Decent crowd for a Tuesday. Saw lots of faces I haven't seen in a good year or so. Took my little brother out for his first metal show, and what an introduction to bar shows!
Savannah came out first. Their jump up and down style of hardcore didn't go over super well with the crowd on hand. I could appreciate what they were all about and know they would do well at an all ages show with a crowd that digs that stuff. The vocalist had plenty of energy and they were tight. Hard hitting fast drummer turned sideways. Cambie Kroetch on guitar is always a treat. The sound was an issue. Drums and vocals were big, but guitars were buried. They were frustrated by the end of their set with all of us for not moving around and being enthusiastic. But it was a Tuesday night, we were all saving our energy for The Hole and the crowd didn't buy into their "come on let's go" motivation tactics. Definitely some very heavy parts that made my head bob to the groove.
Zimmers Hole came out with devastating force to the tune of the droning intro of Bound By Fire. Then straight into When You Were Shouting At The Devil...
Damn awesome! Val was on fire hitting every note perfectly. Gene slayed eventhough it was only his eighth time playing those tunes. Byron's bass sound...just lovely. Dave Teague did very well filling in for Jed, but Jed was missed as only he has that sound and playing style that makes Zimmers Hole so unique. Sounds like teague is going to be the second guitarist, so maybe they'll come back with both guys shredding away.
I was glad to see all the usual stunts and the new "Devil's Mouth" prop. Kent Baskie took one for the team and stuck his whole head into the hole.
Cheese slices, cheeseburger breakdown, Heathen pissing Stoli, fisting corpses. They couldn't wrangle any rubber chickens up for Fully Packed, but that was not a problem.
Only big complaint is the guitar not being present enough through the set and wavering in it's volume.
All the new material was brilliant in a live setting. I am looking forward to more releases and future shows with Jed.
Gabri~hell saved the day outside with her ever ready Sharpie for Kent's CD signing request. Great job, Ms. Hell!
Great to see Gene and the guys again! - Wed, 12 Mar 2008 5:15pm

Yeah savannah was quite good at making a portion of the crowd fuck of for a quick beer elsewhere. 30 seconds through their first song I half expected the singer to toss me a football so some of us had to get out of there. But we got back just before the show really started and Zimmers Hole kicked some arse and like Mr.H said it was great to see so many faces I haven't seen in a long time. Tuesday and Wednesday shows should happen more often. They're my only nights off. I'm going to the bar now. Cheers \m/ - Wed, 12 Mar 2008 8:04pm
