Wintersleep I have only recently gotten into as a band. Upon the release of "Welcome to the night sky", I was absolutely drawn in and amazed with what a solid album they had put together. I was definitely excited to see them play live.

I wasn't sure if I was going to make it to the show because for the past week I've been dying of some unidentified death disease aka: fighting off mono or something. Sexy, I know..

Wooden Stars played well. They kind of have the same sound as Wintersleep. I didn't really pay much attention to them though which sort of sucked but it wasn't my fault since I was fatigued and sick.

Wintersleep were really great. I am so glad I didn't stay home yesterday night. Paul was right on with the vocals and everything. I'm glad their set included mostly songs from "Welcome to the night sky" because it's such a well written album, and if you haven't heard it yet, get your ass on their myspace or something. There wasn't much interaction with the audience, but I don't mind. Usually it's the same "you guys are great we love you" kind of stuff..

The only thing wrong with the show... were the people there.. Maybe I'm not used to this kind of crowd or something but I would like to assume 85% of the people in Sugar that night were just talking about "OMG CELLPHONES!" or "THE HILLS!". Or maybe I'm just a total people-hater all together. As usual the crowd got going during the single, "Weighty ghost" which was of no surprise. I kind of guessed most people there were only familiar with that song.

And to whoever kept taking pictures in the dark with the flash on... FUCK YOU. I don't care if you want to create a new album on facebook. You made me BLIND you obnoxious JERK.

Right, maybe I should talk more about the band. I hope Wintersleep keeps pumping out albums. If they build on the energy filled greatness of their newest release, without a doubt they'll come up with something dead-on.

Oh yeah, the security. My boyfriend and I had been at the show for about two hours, then some new security guy comes up and tells him to pay 2 bucks to check his bag. This bag had what, a pair of pants and a shirt in it? OH NO! NOT CLOTHES! Everybody runnnn! ..Stupid..

Thanks, check out Wintersleep, and keep in mind that no matter how many show reviews you write in your life, none will ever be as bad as this one..

Damn.. wish I'd seen the show. I was on the fence between Wintersleep and Elliott Brood at Logan's. I opted for Elliott Brood, who were great BTW.

Oh well, I'll continue to enjoy Welcome to the Night Sky. I've had that song Search Party stuck in my head for days.

I've noticed that Victoria crowds are lacking at most shows (in terms of energy). It seems like whenever I catch a show in other cities people are jumping up and down losing their minds - at Sugar the crowd usually just stands and stares. The last really good crowd I've seen at Sugar was for the New Pornographers over a year ago. I've since probably been to a dozen shows there. - Sun, 4 Nov 2007 7:20pm Edited: Sun, 4 Nov 2007 7:20pm

I want to mention how great it was to hear Joy Division when I arrived. They knew I was coming. Like that one time @ Lucky when I got there and they started playing The Smiths.
