| ::Saint:: User Info... | So I'm on the lookout for some musicians for a new project I am trying to get started up. Don't have a lot of material yet, but I am in the process of writing and doing some basic recording of a lot of song ideas I have jotted down over the past year or so with a guitarist/vocalist. Style-wise I'm envisioning a potentially medium to heavy progressive rock style with a range of influences from bands like Muse, Skillet, Radiohead, Underoath, Thousand Foot Krutch, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, U2, Celldweller, NiN, Blindside, Alexisonfire, and I'm sure lots of others.. Not sure what we are doing about jam quarters exactly.. may be able to make noise with a full band at vocalist's house for awhile, but once there is a solid band together I'd like to schedule a weekly practice at Pro Jam. I am a bassist, and the other person involved will most likely end up doing vocals and rhythm guitar. I'd like to find a drummer (Have a few leads), lead guitarist (preferably a creative person with decent gear and a lot of f/x savvy, who can rip it up as well, when need be, and still sound unique), and probably somebody on keyboards/synthy sounds. Age range would preferably be somewhere 20-30ish. Right now we are 28 and 22. I am planning on writing as many songs, or at least generating as many ideas as possible myself, but I am very much into making this a collaborative venture, and I'd welcome any song ideas you want to bring along for the ride. Once I have a better idea as to what we're doing and where, etc, I'll have a better idea what to tell you! | T-dub01 User Info... | hey I'm not sure if you needa drummer but I've been playing alot of Dream Theater the past few years and need some guys to play with! my kit is still up in the north island but it would be nice to have one solid place to play, as my kit isn't subtle... | ::Saint:: User Info... | So a little update on this - I've wrangled together a Vocalist/Guitar player, Drummer, and Keyboardist, but I am still looking for a good lead guitarist, somebody with a lot of F/X savvy and creative juice who can also rip it up in a hurry. One little proviso (this is sort of a new thing) is that we are thinking we'd strongly prefer somebody with some Christian beliefs as it turns out we are all Christ followers (not necessarily what one would traditionally call "Christian", i.e. I think we are mostly fairly liberal, or at least apolitical, and we're not a bunch of judgmental douche-bags) and we're all at the point where it seems important that everyone in this band is on a similar page in this regard. Keep in mind, we're not really aiming to make "Christian" music or anything like that, just good music that comes from a real, personal place. | ::Saint:: User Info... | Alright, so a little change here - guitarist has been found.. however our vocalist has decided to step back, so we are now looking for a solid front man with good vocal chops (something interesting, hopefully) who can maybe do a little bit of a scream when necessary. It would be great if you could play some guitar as well. This is going to be a very collaborative project/band, but you will need to be able to sing other people's lyrics, etc. Same idea applies as mentioned earlier in the thread in regards to the other less tangible qualities.. | Michael User Info... | Hey I've just started a similar band, but I'm interested in being involved in multiple projects. I sing and write/compose, and have many spiritual influences, the primary one being esoteric christianity. Now, my personal feeling is that I'd like someone who wasn't really working on another serious project (as I know Amortals is to you, and rightly so, because its awesome).. as this is going to be a fairly serious outfit that is going to need a lot of creative energy from everyone, and I would kind of hope will be the main thing for everyone in the band. | ::Saint:: User Info... | I posted this on a new thread, but I think the title was a little confusing, so I'll put it in this one instead. I am a musician, looking for other talented musicians who would be interested in starting an original alternative rock project with me. I know I have posted before about this project, but things are constantly fluid and I'd like to solidify the lineup and creative power pretty soon.. I've got some people loosely formed at the moment, but I am taking this project quite seriously and I am very interested in hearing from anyone who would be into checking it out, jamming, and potentially putting together a serious band. I play bass, and I am jamming with a drummer, guitar player, and keyboardist. Nothing has been written in stone, and I am very serious about finding the right people to get involved with this. I am especially interested in finding a good frontman - vocalist / guitarist preferably, but I would love to hear from anyone who is interested. Style wise, influences range from more progressive groups such as Muse, Coldplay, and U2, to heavier stuff in the vein of Skillet, Project 86, and Thousand Foot Krutch (go look 'em up if you haven't heard of them). I'm not necessarily interested in having a "Christian Band" or getting signed by Tooth & Nails records or something (though I wouldn't necessarily turn it down).. I just want to make good, personal music, and I'd love for some sort of common belief focused around the teachings of Christ to be a solidifying element within the band. At this point I would be very interested to hear from anyone (aside from bass players, 'cause that's my gig) who has a passionate desire to make awesome music similar to what I've stated, and to be in a solid, creative band, and has the capacity and skills to do so effectively.. meaning that you have the requisite gear, experience, etc. Guitar, vocals, drums, synths/keyboards.. whatever. I just want to find the right mix of personalities and styles. I especially need a good frontman (vocalist/guitar player, preferably). In addition - I've got a few songs written (just bass, fake drums and my sorta mediocre vocals) .. I am very interested in hooking with someone as a writing / recording partner to give a little more structure to these songs and fill out the guitar and/or keyboard parts while I am forming the other members to actually take it live. There are a few people I am seriously working with (guitarists mostly) .. I am really looking for a good, serious frontman and vocalist, preferably with guitar or keyboard/synth skills. I do have a drummer I am jamming with, but nothing serious, and if you are a drummer looking for a serious project with time to spare, please let me know! As far as the Christian thing is concerned - I do think it would make some things easier to deal with if we were all on the same page in that regard, but I'm not hung up on it.
