I remember hearing that they'd have it at Lyle's. I don't have a copy yet either but I'd love to hear and read it. hey Jeremy, are you coming out to my Aug 13th show? I'll let you in for free if you mention it on air a few times. - Tue, 31 Jul 2007 8:07pm Edited: Tue, 31 Jul 2007 8:07pm

I just delivered more copies to Lyles and Ditch so you folks run down there and buy more.... In regards to Jeremy... iTune??? technology... when i started this project my vision was a cassette tape and a zeroxed, typewritered cut and paste photos type stapled book.... but technology kept getting in the way so we chose the CD format for the music and the amazing Mr. Todd Eacrett to lay-out a book on his computer programe... sorry Jeremy about the iTunes thing.

BUT HEY JEREMY are you gonna MAN UP like C-FaX 1070 did and play a NEOS song or a JeRK WaRD song on your radio station?

THANKS too all and enjoy!

p.s. Kimberly... request some Metric next time! - Wed, 1 Aug 2007 10:39pm

I think what Baker was originally upset about was the fact that the Internet doesn't know the track IDs and titles when you put it into the player. Since it's a fully-pressed CD, did the company not offer the service of registering it with CDDB databases and such?
It's not an expensive item, but these days it's as important as getting an ISBN#, which I notice the book has.

Anyway, no matter, It's possible to register afterwards as well, so keep it in mind.

Obviously, with the popularity of iPods, iTunes has become one of the dominant providers of CD track-listings. They use Gracenote unfortunately which kinda monopolized on what used to be free.

Nothing stopping you from making a *small* killing on individual tracks within iTunes either should you choose to officially support them. The real kids of today will hear your CD in no other way...
I think my Step-Girrl would like some of this music, but she wouldn't even BORROW the CD off me. It's all download now.

Kim, I *think* you got the wrong dude unless you're getting cut at 5 PM? in which case, just say who you are and I'll play you one... my request time is crazy busy, but I'll make a time for a Live Vic regular.

Ricky, I bought the book and CD from Ditch and do LOVE it. Really solid musical adventure and a great piece of music history for any local music fan. The problem is when I load it onto my iTunes there is no info, so if I want to follow along wheile I am listening, I need ot fill in all the info and it is a crazy sucky chore, especially with so many tracks! I do almost all my listening now on iTunes when I wam at home getting ready for my radio show or on my iPod in the car or on the walk to work, so if it can't be played there, the CD will collect dust...

as for manning up... I probably should. I liked the I-Sci band, the CKDA song was rad because I *think* the Zone back in the day was CKDA so I laughed and laughed and I likeed Nomeansno. the track on disc one is so bass-y! Jerk Ward was cool, the Clix... jeeze, so many... BUT I was not so much a fan of the Neos. just not my style, but i respect their place in the pnateon of great old Vic bands. - Thu, 2 Aug 2007 6:11pm Edited: Thu, 2 Aug 2007 6:12pm

Thanks again, Jason, Ricky, et all for all the hard work on the cd and the book. What a nice looking cd and book package, I love it! I well remember the early 80's jamming in the same condemned buildings with some of the punk bands on these cd's. Blown fuses and amps, no money for rent or booze. Great times, great memories. - Mon, 6 Aug 2007 10:23pm

You know, ah, this is something I'll regret saying, but if we were going to follow through truely, there should be an all ages show, with young bands invited to play, uhm, at the Big Fernwood or Norway H cause that is where it came from. Now that would mean rental and damage deposit, and a sponsor for the pa rental. Jeremy? Just a thought, not a challenge cause I noticed you started this thread which is support. Maybe in the summer for the kids, or
we should do it in the fall when the Uvic students are back as well. NonMeans No owes us still.

yes/true, an all ages show should still really happen. i need to mention though, that organising the groups to play the release party we had at Logan's was more difficult than the whole 6 years of work on the book. now that things look potentially easier, and some groups are definitely into playing again, what we need firstly is a few more reformed or retro groups on the bill, and the $/organisation to make it happen. i strongly believe a late Fall show, maybe November or something would be perfect. anyhow, its up for more discussion...pls feel free to write to AYECH at: [email protected] - Fri, 10 Aug 2007 6:40am

I am sure the old CKDA could find a little money if you talked to the powers that be about a free rock show... but you riun into the problem of The Zone wanting to brand it... if that isn't aproblem, then put something together and email Jenna, [email protected]

The Fall is ratings time for us, so that is cool. - Fri, 10 Aug 2007 4:30pm

the idea of an ex-ckda station sponsoring a gig which more or less stands against everything ckda once stood for seems totally absurd to me. if any commercial station in town actually gave a hoot about anything besides their ratings and profit, they would have had enough decency to show up at the release party, especially considering its cultural relevance. this is in no way a personal attack on the station or yourself Jeremy; more just a rather obvious analogy. i encourage you to play the cd on air as much as possible, and thanks for the support. - Sat, 11 Aug 2007 7:13am

It was a truly magic moment seeing Jerk Ward play and something the youngins need to see.
