Aidan Logins User Info... | "Check out Scissorfight" YEAH! I thought everyone was gonna be lame and post advice on listening to shitty bands that suck wang n all that. But this is the best advice I've seen in years. Deep Purple was a good one too, everyone (who hasn't really listened) thinks they suck because of that one riff in Smoke on the Water, but they're really excellent. Even Smoke on the Water is a great song. - Fri, 27 Jul 2007 1:37pm

Mr. Hell User Info... | I don't recommend shitty bands to others, although I may listen to them according to some people's stunted opinions. Scissorfight and Deep Purple. They should tour together!!! - Fri, 27 Jul 2007 6:33pm Edited: Fri, 27 Jul 2007 8:39pm

MindlessMikeyJay User Info... | Yikes.....I got isis and Mastodon's new album Blood Mountain, sick. I have heard good stuff about gojira and i saw hypocrisy with FF In December. They rule. - Fri, 27 Jul 2007 7:20pm
lonemonk User Info... | Fuck, Laprider is once again my hero. The Meters are one of the best bands ever! If you listen closely, Miles Davis is often heavier than most metal soncially speaking. Now that this has edged into other genres, Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart are other options. . - Fri, 27 Jul 2007 8:05pm

laprider User Info... | you know this brings up the point that I believe only a fool listens to one type of music. I recently read the book "this is your brain on music" and suggest it as a worthy read. Everyone has their own paticular taste in music, especially when it comes to playing music. By only listening to the genre you like you are really selling yourself short. Lets say you are a drummer, think of all the shit you could pick up listening to different styles, want "heavy" drumming, check out some Taiko...I think you get the point. I know I have gained a lot from listening to music that might not match my style. By the time I got into punk as a young teen, I was already in the canadian youth orchestra, so three cords played badly wasn't really for me BUT, the best thing that happened to my playing ever was infusing the energy and ethic of punk into the playing style I had developed at that time. Hence to this day I will always be a " sloppy" kind of player, hasn't hurt my career though. put yer ears on listen to something out of the box and yes everyone should have some meters in their collection. - Sat, 28 Jul 2007 9:53am Edited: Sat, 28 Jul 2007 9:54am
