An eclectic night to say the least. Everything fit together just perfectly. Very impressive sets from EVERYONE (unfortunately missed Sistrenatus). Too bad that Fauna got cut short. Pictures, do the talking.... - Sat, 28 Apr 2007 3:43am

I arrived in time to see Cowan score the OT winner on the world's smallest, highest TV.
Then Sistrenatus performed their set. I'm not super into noise and industrial, but his sounds were very intense. I understand the aim of pushing sonics to their limits to achieve HEAVY. It was the loudest set I've ever heard in Logan's. It would be great if all bands were that loud. Interesting visuals. Not for me, but well done for what it was...although perhaps 5 minutes too long.
Black Lotus have the honour of being the most unique band in Victoria. Black metal with influences from many other genres that make it layered with interesting passages that keep your attention. The driving force was Endeløs' relentless blasting beats that were in fact filled with rhythms and groove, not to mention the pedal work and tom work (that latter of which was not heard very well due to sound issues). All the string players were very good and Christine played nice melodies that fit well with the hypnotic guitars. Jasper did very well wih the vocals, keeping them strong throughout the set and fitting them tastefully within the music. I especially like Jasper and Nick doing the heavy harmonies together!
Tegan should face the crowd a little more so he doesn't seem so shy and nervous. It would add greatly to the overall stage presence.
Fauna took a while to get going, and I had to leave. Their boogey man masks were intriguing and I wanted to hear what they had in store but, alas too much mucking around.
Good turnout! Black Lotus needs to play every night the Canucks play in the playoffs, but only until puck drop so Endeløs can catch some of the goodness. - Sun, 29 Apr 2007 10:41am

That about sums it up for me, seeing them in Vancouver at Walp... Fest. I paid full attention at the start, even shushing & ignoring a friend who'd just arrived, thinking something would rev up... then it did and I still didn't get it. Spent the rest of the set laughing at my drunk buddy who was heckling pretty rudely. Maybe next time. - Mon, 30 Apr 2007 10:16pm

final Black Lotus.

I have no decent pics of Fauna, quite sad considering the ritualistic high comedy of their garden gnome faces. Sistrenatus, I have only one flash picture that lacks ambience. Same goes for Griefer. Better next time. - Thu, 31 May 2007 2:46pm
