| Bloodied Mule User Info... | BC Metal Show is a camp-out metal fest in Port Alberni July 13 and 14. It's going down in Farmer Bill's field outside of town and the line-up is skookum dee-licious. http://www.myspace.com/bcmetalshow. Line-up so far this year, A Textbook Tragedy, Mendozza, Entropia, Desensitized, The Butchers Hand, Nemesis, The Dastardlies, Gross Misconduct, Tribune, Apocalypta, My Broken Hero, Dexedrin. There'll be a ticket for everyone because we can always just expand the venue! This show is going to be unreal heavy with the rest of the bands listed. And most peeps on the Island haven't yet heard Nemesis and The Butchers Hand. | Sati User Info... | She's right, thats the only way to make it work. Being idealistic waiting for hordes of metal fans to suddenly appear & carry the scene - it just isn't going to happen. How many serious metalheads do you know? Serious enough to _consistently_ support local metal. Whatever # it is, its not enough. Its like the saying, it takes a village... I don't know the rest of the saying, but you get the point! Its the only way to make metal (or anything!) work in Vancouver. If punks weren't forced into checking out metal once in a while, our scene would be pretty dead. The other metal fest includes punk in their lineups too. We all have to make concessions. Like hanging out with people who aren't like us once in a while. :) And sorry man, I actually like when people speak their mind on here, but that includes me, haha.... - Wed, 30 May 2007 12:43pm | ||

| Bryan User Info... | Although I don't really care either way, I just wanted to point out that I'm pretty doubtful as to whether the metal scene in BC is so lacking that we need to throw random punk bands into what's billed as a "metal festival" just to drag in a few more non-metal fans... just look at the percentage of metalhead posters on this board, or at all the people who turn out to metal shows here in Victoria (and I'm sure the same can be said of Vancouver)... if you really, really need to throw punk bands on in order to survive then just call it a punk and metal festival. And yeah, I also agree that you could have probably found a punk band closer to the spirit of a metal festival than My Broken Hero or The Dastardlies, but whatever.
