OK don't take this wrong...a booking fact, these are busy guys, sometimes it takes a while to get back to you, chances are at this time they don't see you as a fit or ready for a headlining spot....I suggest you network, do the legwork and get yourself on a bill that already has a relationship with the bar. Bars sell booze not promote bands, end of story....having said that both Logans and Lucky bend over backwards to make sure there still are places to play. Once you get an opening spot...work it, have everyone you know come out and make it clear that you have local support, then try contacting the bookers again and see how it goes....patience patience it just takes time....you've named two bars and how many bands are there in Vic let alone travelling bands...just some thoughts thats all. - Wed, 14 Feb 2007 9:45am Edited: Wed, 14 Feb 2007 9:46am

FYI Liam Lux, talent buyer at Lucky is on his yearly vacation. He will be back in about two weeks. I wouldn't count on having any dialogue about bookings with Lucky Bar until he returns. - Wed, 14 Feb 2007 11:39am

If anyone speaks to anyone from Logans please let them know that there are a couple people trying to get in touch with them about shows in April/May, and to please return emails/calls. I'm not the only one. - Wed, 14 Feb 2007 3:33pm

From what I understand the guy that books shows at Logans is incredibly sick right now. He had some surgury and is on the mend but he has been ill for a few weeks now. - Thu, 15 Feb 2007 1:53pm

Mihkel, who does our booking, did just have surgery, so he hasn't been around much the last couple of weeks, but, in general, here's what I'd suggest: forget about the phone. Mihkel's only in the office on Wednesdays, so you could try it then, but I'd just go straight to email: [email protected] (or [email protected] - it doesn't matter which, they're aliases.)

It doesn't heard to try a couple of emails - you never know, you might get caught by a spam filter or something. Basically, if you have something we think is suitable for the bar, and you send it in a clearly written message with a descriptive subject line, you'll hear back. Unfortunately, if it's waaayy off base it might slip through the cracks.

If you want to drop me a line about your show, I'll check it out and forward it to Mihkel and try to give you a quick heads-up about your chances.

BTW, I know it seems like a total pain to book a show in here, but if the show's worth doing, and we have the space, eventually you'll get in. Of course, it's harder sometimes for out-of-town acts, because you have a smaller window to book it. Also keep in mind that we run about two months in advance, and are very reluctant to cancel shows that are already booked, unless it's for something that's really too good to pass up.

Sorry, long post. - Thu, 15 Feb 2007 2:12pm

I'm sure the number's on the machine. They can account for the cash being there/ not being there. Tell your bank, as well.

Probably not much fun though. - Tue, 20 Feb 2007 1:53am

Gman's right about the ATM. If you call the number on the front, they send us a request for the transaction record and then refund your money. Unfortunately, we can't refund it for you because then we'd get double-dipped (unless, of course, you gave us back the money when it was refunded into your account.) - Thu, 22 Feb 2007 9:05am

The best thing to do about your money is talk to John Logan about it. He is probably the most helpful, understanding and intelligent bar manager in town. He'll more than likely just cut you a cheque with an apology.
trust me. - Fri, 23 Feb 2007 1:49pm

I called the ATM company and they told me to call the 1800 number on the back of my bank card..... my bank card doesnt have a number on it so i'll have to leave them another message you can't just call and talk to a person. - Fri, 23 Feb 2007 5:51pm

I'm serious. I know everytime I've been there for a beer or a show, if anything gets fucked, john's right there to fix it. He's always considerate of customers like us and is always sober. For example, I was sitting on one of the chairs at a table, and almost ALL of the pegs were gone out of the back of it. Someone made me laugh and I leaned back and BOOM the whole back of the chair came right off.
I went over to John to show him that obviously someone had sold him some bunk merchandise and he was so responsive. He told me it was his staff's fault and threw the chair in the garbage out behind the building. Then folded his arms and started kind of looking 'though' me. As though I wasn't there anymore.
It was really neat.... - Mon, 26 Feb 2007 11:01am Edited: Mon, 26 Feb 2007 11:08am

it's funny, but it's also not funny.

I was at some show about a year ago where Logan was out front smoking and some kid (like 15 or something) kept lipping him off and wouldn't leave. So Logan grabs him by the neck and fucking ruffs him up. WTF? a 50ish year old man doing stuff like that is totally fucked up. - Thu, 1 Mar 2007 11:46am
