Show's at Legends because they're digging the floor out as we speak and redoing the entire bar. With the impoved sightlines I think everyone will dig it!!

I've been told that they're knocking out the DJ booth and moving the stage into that corner, as well as digging down in front of the stage so that there's a pit in front of the stage (similar to sugar) and then gradual raised areas behind workding to the back of the bar. Thus every 20 feet or so you'll be anohter few inches higher then the people in front of you.

I'm pretty stoked about it...

I think the bands wanted to do just the one this time around as it's the first time.

But in all honesty it seems hit and miss when we put on all ages shows. When we used to do them a lot more kids used to come and although they didn't generate profit we were happy to do them on a break-even basis just to have all ages options. However, in the last year and a half it's so hard to put them on and be confident enough kids will turn up...

But it could be the band selection. Any thoughts? - Wed, 21 Mar 2007 11:00am

THE TOASTERS

i missed them last year :(

but bands that havent been hear befor i think alot of them skip us for 2 reasons
the main reason, were on an island, the second we dont have a good midsized venue like the Croation Cultural Center in Vancouver. It would be nice to have a venue around that size maybe a bit smaller to bring any band that would want to play it - Fri, 23 Mar 2007 12:53pm

We were telling the City of Victoria that just recently... I think the City sometimes under-estimates the amount of revenue they miss out on by not having a venue that fits 800 - 1200 all year round (not just in the summer). I hope with the community's help we can push for a venue that fits those needs. There are many sit down shows that could and should be dancing shows! Also, from the success of some of these shows that are happening now (such as Social D & other summer concerts) our City could support a venue of that size easily all year round. Alix Goolden is a good example but again it is a sit down venue. Express your views and write to the City. Tell them what so many people have been thinking about for so long. If tons of people voice this opinion it cannot be ignored for too much longer... - Sat, 24 Mar 2007 3:42am Edited: Sat, 24 Mar 2007 3:48am

who should we send the leter too...cuz if i just send it to the City of Victoria and no one inparticular they wont care, because i have come to find that no matter how much i try to change the world, the government doesnt care what i think. - Sun, 25 Mar 2007 9:32am Edited: Sun, 25 Mar 2007 9:32am

If you were going to write a letter you could address it to Mike Hill - City Planner (Planning Development Department) & Don Chow - Manager of Recreation Services.

Another way to go about this would be to write to individual City Councillors and the Mayor so it is in their minds. They are given recommendations through the different departments but Council and the Mayor make final decisions on everything. Sometime or another that issue will be raised again a a Committee of a Whole Meeting. - Sun, 25 Mar 2007 10:13pm Edited: Sun, 25 Mar 2007 10:14pm

I've been talking to some people who went to the Quebec City and Toronto shows, both talked about the show being awsome and how the Bouncing Souls were definatly in fine form.... The promoter of the Quebec City show said it was the best show he's seen or done in over a year!

So stoked! - Sat, 28 Apr 2007 7:21pm

so how was legends after all the said reno's?
I was down there for sparta and moneen, tho there wasn't many people there it wasn't all that bad despite the usual legends folleys(mostly sight lines and the sound was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too loud at some points during sparta's set).
Im pretty eager to hear if these changes were for the better or if they really happened as such?(haven't been down there since sparta) - Wed, 16 May 2007 2:32am

Apparently they city put the kybosh on the reno plans due to some sort of by law or the like about digging into bedrock or something?? I only heard second or third hand the reason why it didn't go totally according to plan.

They did some reno's but not the dig. - Fri, 18 May 2007 6:13pm
