You guys know by now that I can't narrow anything down to save my life, which is why I was avoiding this thread. But too bad, here I go:

*Misery Index - a couple of my favorite metalheads actually took their ballcaps off & we all banged harder than I've ever seen.
*Tony Wilson's Sextet (6tet?) at Victory Square/Jazzfest with Masa etc, and both noise shows that Kelly Churko played around that time (Cobalt & Video In) too. All those guys make me stammer, they're so amazing. I love what happens to the world every year when they all reunite (w/ATB etc), even when they just get to watch & cheer each other on from the audience.
*The Remedials/Likely Lads at the Cobalt. The place was empty except for the bands and Plow, and well, you don't need an audience to have a wicked time. They played (excellently!), drank, cheered, heckled, and finally got up and jammed covers together. SO MUCH FUN! It reminded me of all those dead tuesday open jam nights at the 'balt over the years where it was just blackie, jesse & the joint chiefs and a couple of underage kids playing horrible shit.. me with a big smile on feeling like it was heaven on earth.
*The Melvins was some kind of bliss. Took me off guard.
*Leper/Iskra at the Creephouse - some great players & good people. Reminded me of all the great basement shows where you know you're totally looked after.
*Lupus with Dan Scum at the Cobalt. I haven't laughed that hard ever (EVER!!!) and I'm a huge fan of both Cam & Scum so the two of them together was too good to be true. & The Heckler was in fine form that night!

It was a great year of shows - how do you just pick 5? I can't remember which ones specifically but early on in the year there were a couple of Zuckuss ones at the columbia, Goatsblood ones, Hesher presents ones, and Foster Kare ones which made me really happy. And Tendonitis of course. And Ladyhawk.

Sure there are a lot of great bands in town these days, but thinking back, there are also one HELL of a lot of great fans too which made those times so much fun. We should have a thread of favorite fans. i'm out. - Wed, 10 Jan 2007 12:36am Edited: Wed, 10 Jan 2007 12:45am

My favorite cconcert moment of 2006 was the Constantines set at Sasquatch. Their set was cut short by a hail storm, but made the most of their time with an intense 20 minutes as the crowd got pelted with hail. The kind of thing that nobody plans for but makes for an experience that you never forget. Here's a youtube link:

QOTSA were great. It was my first time seeing them, and you can't beat the Gorge for a venue IMO. They played for about 40 minutes on the Sunday just before dark, and were super tight. Most of the songs were from their two most recent albums. - Thu, 11 Jan 2007 1:15pm
