| Hang the DJ User Info... | Hello whoever is taking the time to read this. I'm Caitlin, a vocalist still remaining on the lengthly pursuit of finding a band. Preferably, I would like to start a band from scratch. I would of course like joining a band that's already set up, but "joining someone else's idea", as I call it, sometimes does not work. All I want to do in life is sing. I have never wanted anything more than to front a band and to be singing and writing, because it is everything to me. Picturing anything else is very difficult. I hope this is the last post I'll have to make on Livevictoria because this search is getting tiring; I know there is some potential on this island! I sing in a variety of styles, and am also open to experimenting with new styles. | Steve User Info... | Hey, if you're ever into recording some backing vocals, Give me a holler. I'm trying to assemble a little band but I do most of the singing. I'm really looking for a gal to help out with backing vox, percussions etc. and some lead vox here and there. It sounds like you want to be the front for a band. You got your own material? Do you play any instruments? I was working with a gal recently (she left) who did a lot of the vox on our tracks but she also contributed Guitar and Bass so she's pretty tuff to replace. I like rock and roll with a mix of male/female vox so I've been trying to write stuff like that. Anyway, check out our tracks on MySpace. I'm pretty much taller than every guy on the planet other than like Shaquille O'Neal.... I think you'll have more luck finding a bass player than I do a band. Response though has been encouraging (thanks everyone). I can actually play bass better than guitar, but, I don't own a bass. I have a friend who has one and she NEVER plays it. She's lent it to me a couple times, and she's going to lend it to me within a couple days so I can get back at it. If you get really, really desperate, I could play bass for you! I have the rhythm down, all I need is to practice and it'll all be good. Anyways I hope you read this. Maybe I'll email you later or something. I'd honestly be interested, I think it would be fun. The height thing, well...yes...my ego would be pretty damaged night after night being towered over like a lawn nome.....haha jk, i was used to that playing with jeff. Are you taller than he is?. we have a couple people to try out first but that is a cool possibility. But that's good if you have people who are gonna audition and stuff. Hmm, I think I'm probably like the same height as Jeff, but I don't really know. How well can I sing? From what I've heard people tell me I should be making records and fronting a band + stuff... so that must be a good thing. I've got a unique sound and never go off key... The songs I write are more in the Radiohead meets Nirvana, mixed-up kind of style. Then there's the odd jazz ones I write for the hell of it. Lyric-wise it's abstract stuff that's open to interpretation, like poetry. Okay, so everyone, I'm looking for people closer to my age. I'm 18. It's just easier that way for what I have in mind. | C User Info... | My advice if you actually would like to find a band: Spend the 150 dollars on an input for your computer and record a demo. It will be 10 time easier to find a band if they can hear your voice, know what you sound like and then can decide if you would be a good match. | Hang the DJ User Info... | I've tried the solo acoustic thing, that's what I was trying to do after giving up for a couple years (Glassheartradio), but I can't play guitar very well. I know I could just do so much better having proper musicians playing the ideas I have in mind that I can't play out myself. I'll get a proper sound recording system whenever I get my own computer. This is a shared one and I get in shit if I bog it up with any crap. I'd like to get the solo thing I've been working on going. I've got a couple songs down, with nice vocals and shitty guitar, but I don't want to just have to play open mics, which is what I'll have to stick to because of my half-ass guitar playing. Most metal heads will discount a bands song for having female vocals from some reason, but I find the contrasting beauty and intensity can be a really neat sound, epic times. I'm open to almost anything, since I like most styles of music.... I think having a Cure/Smiths/Siouxsie and the Banshees type band would be cool...
