Whoa there nelly! $500 is a lot of moolah for what is basically now a total museum piece. Now if you can find one (that works) for about a third of that I MIGHT be interested. Y'all realize that it would only get used once or twice a decade or so... - Wed, 15 Nov 2006 4:52pm

You folks do realize that, as a rule, I intensly dislike "vintage" (i.e. old and unreliable) gear even though I have a studio full of the stuff (hey, it was free or real cheap). My record player amp just did a swell Hiroshima imitation and now I'm using a solid state plain Jane Fender amp which is a million times more reliable (if not quite as asthetically pleasing. I hate analog recording machines and much prefer the sound of a properly mastered CD over just about any LP. My number one priority always has been that it must ALWAYS work and properly to boot. Otherwise you are constantly fixing stuff which is, how shall I put it, "non-creative". The ONLY reason I would ever want to sully my conciousness with another 388 would be to transfer the hundreds of reels of old recordings from the Dollhouse and Sea of Shit eras, but if anybody thinks I'm going to do it for free (AND buy another big, heavy and expensive white elephant to clutter up my already overcrowded studio with) they are dreaming.

P.S. Parts for the 388 are rarer than hen's teeth! - Thu, 16 Nov 2006 10:47am

HUNDREDS?!? And I don't blame you for wanting to be paid to do it. Question: Can you transfer the tapes to, say, CuBase, and remaster the work that way?!? Parts for the 388?!? According to Teac-Ca, they said they might still have parts for it, E-Mail [email protected] and inquire, I did but deleted the reply. As far as those tapes go, I guess I'll wait (if a list gets done), I'm sure you've got some key recordings that people wouldn't mind hearing, but I babble. (namely the Chris Buck stuff especially "We Don't Do Much") Sigh, I can see myself going broke over this silly idea. - Thu, 16 Nov 2006 7:05pm

Actually I didn't do the WDDM stuff; I don't remember who did, actually, but I think I have a virgin copy cassette that I could dig out... once I get all my stuff sorted out. So don't hold yer breath Grif. Sorry but... - Fri, 17 Nov 2006 3:34pm

Hmmm... OK, do you happen to have a copy of the demo on cassette?!? Or does anyone for that matter?!? I'll even take a copy. :) I wonder who did that demo. Speaking of, I just got 2 Breach demos, both on Incentive tapes. - Fri, 17 Nov 2006 4:08pm Edited: Fri, 17 Nov 2006 4:09pm
