Yeah, ditto on that - Big Fernwood has the WORST sound in Victoria. No way to do this at the Garry Oak Room?

totally, by the time you finish your last song all the notes from your first song have finally decided to pack their bags and leave the room.

probably one of the hardest rooms to play in all Victoria.

Besides the venue the line up for this show is killer. - Thu, 2 Nov 2006 11:47am

The dividers can make the sound marginally better....but it's a total fuck around to manoeuver them out from the side room(and back in at the end of the night).
Not only is the sound at Big Fernie fucking terrible....but it's also pretty costly to rent....making it the bottom of the barrel option for a show venue.
The only reason I ever even waste my time going to shows there is because it's a minute from my house. - Mon, 6 Nov 2006 12:26pm

ok, lets see here, big fern is got a capacity of 175, and is near downtown, and obviosly in fernwood... It is not really that expensive, and there has been some great shows there, as well there is a park across the street (vic high) where if people choose to drink there it is not my problem, as well the roof of vic high I have been told makes for great after parties... - Wed, 8 Nov 2006 12:18am

Do you really think it's a good idea, as a promoter, to post on the internet that you "heard the roof of Vic High makes for great after parties." You are dealing with a residential area. As if you (or anyone who lives here ) needs to deal with some drunk douche bag falling off the roof. As well, regardless of the fact that the field doesn't fall under your "jurisdiction" as promoter, you should keep in mind that these same kids ( not to say all drunk kids are douche bags ) are going to piss all over Big Fernwood---your problem. Its' going to happen anyway, but shit, dude...for your sake and the sake of the venue...don't tell people to shit on your show.

I sound really, really old. - Wed, 8 Nov 2006 10:56am

it is real fucking sick... I know so many people witrh stories about being raped by guys in the scene, regualr shit with being groped in pits, and people just don't talk about it. Hopefully we can change that, and work from there. we may not be able to stop sexual assault, but at least we can address the issue, and the awareness will hopefully empower some people to not just let it continue.

Also every one check out the aus rotten song second trial (I think thats the name, it might be second rape) if you do not already know it. - Fri, 17 Nov 2006 9:42am

I have to admitt though, when I got the e mail about setting them up a show, I did think about saying sure, then waiting till they got here, and not having a show rather a horde of pissed off people waiting to get thier hands on people that promote rape... fucking sick bastards. - Mon, 20 Nov 2006 3:39pm

And of course I can't make this because I have a Beatles gig in Parksville that night - things ALWAYS seem to work out that fuckin way.
If some of you reading this aren't sure about FTF (like - you don't know them, or, still unsure about going to the gig in the first place) may I possibly persuade you to really, REALLY consider going, and checking out one of Canada's raddest bands. We played with FTF a couple summers ago at the Sausage Hut and wow they are FUCKING INTENSE.
They will tear your head off.

NNB - Bosevus is is myself and Nev (who run this site) we have a PA / Stage we rent out for shows (and I put on shows under the "Bosevus Productions" moniker).

PA's approx 4000 watts give or take with all the odds and sods you need, comes with a tech for the night.

Stage 12x16 feet ... 2 feet high - Mon, 20 Nov 2006 9:05pm

I seen the stage and pa before, I am not sure that I can cover that though isn't it $200 for just the pa, and $100 for the stage? Thats a lot for a DIY show, I usually skip the stage and the P.A. is usually $60, and a friend runs it. Big difference if we want to keep the costs down so we can have $5-7 all ages shows.
also last I checked Nev had blocked my e mails, I was trying to get him to put up a poster for imperial leather that never ended up on the site, even though we had dropped the cash off to pay for it... - Tue, 21 Nov 2006 11:34am
