Yes, I made it out to this! It totally reminded me of all the great basement shows I've been to.
I was blown away by Leper. Their set made me wish that all the old punks and jazz guys or journalists who've earned their stripes would finally get over their issues about hanging with the little people or young people, or whatever their shit is, and come on out and see this band. Holy crap where do you go when your playing's taking off by leaps and bounds like that. awesome.
I don't know too much about what Iskra shows were like in past but I think people make assumptions cuz of what people say they stand for. I've never known this band to be anything other than a fun show, with a few jokes thrown in and thats what it was.. nothing dark, condescending, serious or stern, just intense music with a big pak of friends going off in front of them. SUCH a good time!
Someone stood up after who kinda pissed me off, but that wasn't the band.
Thanks again Alex etc for inviting everyone into your home! hope you guys all felt treated as well as we were.. the pasta was yummmm... and I hope that iskra shirt didn't get stolen, i had to make someone think about 6x over about taking it. grr - Sat, 4 Nov 2006 2:27pm Edited: Sat, 4 Nov 2006 2:30pm

Ya that show was great. i think it was the best house show weve had so far. EVERYONE was super respectfull and awsome. there was lots of food. THANX to everyone who came out and made it awsome, hopefully the next few shows go that good.

i gotta appologize to all the kids who got kicked out of the waldorf show afterwards. it was fuckin retarded. I dont see how people can support a bar like that after what happened last night. We almost got the show shut down halfway through our set, and we aint playin anymore bars. Im officially 18 again. - Sat, 4 Nov 2006 5:53pm

yeah, and the bands that were playing getting kicked out of the bar was pretty awesome, too.

thanks a lot to everyone who came to the house show, though. that was the most fun i've ever had at a vancouver show. and thanks to everyone who did their dishes after they ate! we didn't even have to ask. awesome. - Sun, 5 Nov 2006 12:48am

YES! It'd be great to see Peruke out here again, either on this or on one of Hesher's shows.
And yup, I was going to ask when you could do a repeat of this show - what a great night, and I don't think we've ever seen enough Iskra over here.
I hope you don't mind me saying, but if you want to play by your own rules you're gonna have to play your own space or with promoters/bars who've already proven to be sympathetic to what you're about and know how to bend things for you. I still can't understand why you agreed to the other show, but whatever, whats done's done and I'm looking forward to cool stuff happening as a result of it! - Sat, 11 Nov 2006 4:16pm

the one in january might not be at our house, but it will be all ages. Possibly at the APC center. they are thinking of starting shows there.

the next show here is gonna be on Dec 15 , with Cap'N'Kops (from ottawa), and more.
It is going to be a benefit show for our freind in the edmonton band, Eleutheros, who has cancer. - Sun, 12 Nov 2006 2:24pm

thanks to everyone who made the shows possible. the house show was a treat and the best show we've played in van since the ALF house show 3 years prior. no more bar shows for us in vancouver. thanks to josh for all his efforts but I'm sorry the people that run the waldorf are chumps(minus the sound guy--who seemed pretty cool).it wasn't only that they kicked out under age kids or people without id, that's a given, its how rude and disrespectful they were.the atmosphere and general goings on at bar shows suck. there is no alternative culture there--its status quo and we contributed to the status quo that night. no more. we played for Josh, who is a really supportive guy, and to help with ferry fare. In hindsite, we should have only played the house show. from here on in we'll leave the bars to "street" and mall pop punk as well as the lame metal scene. special thanks to all those generous folks who supported us. we thank you. hail! - Wed, 15 Nov 2006 8:49pm Edited: Wed, 15 Nov 2006 8:58pm

too bad i wish i was in Vancouver to see the Creephouse show with Leper, Iskra, i bet it slayed...to tell you the truth i wouldnt have even stepped one foot near the Waldorf show...i am kinda shocked that these two bands decided to play there anyways, the Cobalt was booked that evening, or what?...not that im one to say anything, cuz my band has played many different venues, but if we are to support the punk/metal/hardcore/experimental scenes in Vancouver it should be the Cobalt, and obviously the other DIY punk spots we have that are far and between sometimes, but are the best at most ...we should all be encouraged to stay away from venues or atmospheres, or biz promoters that arent supportive of our culture, and are out for something else that treating bands and fans of bands with respect, and continuely support the onesthe good people that support us...lets keep the shit promoters, venues and biz out of the punk scene, and lets say leave the "shit" bars to the whatever bands you dont like at the moment, street, pop, metal ect, (dont go there)...not all people that run bars are bad, theres just bad ppl that run bars
