Moneyshot was alright....not really my thing. Yah about the set up in Sugar...it really sucks..my wife and i couldnt see dick all until i bitched at the owner and i got to talk to the SG promoter. Gave him my two cents and they took us around to the front right near where they were coming onstage. But what we saw of them it was the best thing i have seen in the wild..SOOOO HOT! - Fri, 22 Sep 2006 9:36pm Edited: Fri, 22 Sep 2006 9:39pm

It is a shame about the set up. I snuck in right beside the sound guy (which wasn't his fault about the sound, but more like the cd and equipment he was using) and saw gorgeous women dancing and strutting their stuff. Good thing I wore my 5 inch boots or else I'd be outta luck and outta pocket $20.
I thought it was a good show. I was kinda surprised when they ended it but apparently the girls have had a shitty experience right from the start. Customs, sugar security (what the fuck happened there?) and the sound. But I'd gladly pay another $20 to see them any day. - Sat, 23 Sep 2006 9:51am

When i was at the front i saw 3 or 4 fights. I saw a chick beat the shit out of some guy wailing him in the head atleast 6 times. and then i saw some guy fuckin throw a bottle of water or something at one the girls(nixon) coming down the stairs...she was pissed and ended up whippin the bottle at the guys head and the security grabbed him by the throat and threw him through the side door. the sound guy was fuckin stupid as fuck. and yes they did end it early cuz there was 3 girls coming down in gymnastics uniforms on and the promoter sent them back up and he looked pissed too - Sun, 24 Sep 2006 12:26am

I haven't seen the Suicide Girls and there trying to recreate a burlesque atmosphere. Pity they have to play at dives like Sugar, they're way better then that place. It's too bad Lucky wasn't bigger (unless it changed when I stopped going). Why don't we have a venue as cool as Lucky, but as big as Sugar nightclub?!? It sucks to be broke! - Sun, 24 Sep 2006 6:12pm Edited: Sun, 24 Sep 2006 6:13pm

There was no such burlesque atmosphere. The show was awful. The sound cut out something like six times, and one of the girls' way of dealing with it was to spit half a case of beer on the audience, who appeared to be enjoying it. Luckily, I was sitting elsewhere - where I had the pleasure of having three seperate drinks in their entirety poured on me by drunk goths . - Sun, 24 Sep 2006 10:47pm

That's sad. I mean I'm big on burlesque (it's nice to see T&A, but ya gotta have something interesting in between clothes and no clothes) and my understanding was that the Suicide Girls was a burlesque show. Sad to hear the show couldn't of been better. What was the show, one big tease?!? - Mon, 25 Sep 2006 10:40am

Why do people hate Suicide Girls?!? I betcha they were cooler before they were in that video with Lemmy from Motorhead. Personally, I just enjoy seeing a pretty face, she doesn't have to be always peeling off her clothes (but I've always thought like that).

Is it just me, or did the Suicide Girls suddenly start showing some partial and full nudity instead of all partial and no nudity unless you became a member? What a shame, there's nothing creative there. But, too bad I don't know more women like that. - Tue, 26 Sep 2006 6:53pm Edited: Tue, 26 Sep 2006 7:03pm

According to wikipedia.com (cause it's WIKID!!! :):

Former Model Backlash
=====================
In 2005, a number of the paid models were reported to have resigned from the site or had their memberships revoked in connection with allegations of censorship and mistreatment of the models by the site's owners. Numerous members have reported that their journals and message board posts were removed because they criticized management.

A primary issue is the SuicideGirls modeling contract, which prevents its models (including past models, for a time) from working for competing sites or agencies (specifically those dealing in nude photography and/or erotica). In response to this, the SuicideGirls website states that only models "who have chosen to be involved in special projects" sign an exclusivity agreement in addition to their standard modeling contract barring them working with direct competitors for a certain amount of time. However, the standard modeling agreement for SuicideGirls includes a "Non-Competition" clause, barring any model that signs it from modeling for an "SG Competitor" during the one or more years in which the model is under contract with SuicideGirls, plus an additional two years.

Many of the former models involved in the 2005 dispute are now involved with the competing sites GodsGirls and Deviant Nation. The owners of both of these sites have been sued by SuicideGirls LLC for hiring models who were allegedly still under contract with SuicideGirls and for allegedly violating SuicideGirls tradmarks. Several former models were also threatened with legal action. As of June 2006, none of SuicideGirls LLC's lawsuits or threatened actions against former models or competing sites has resulted in a victory for the plaintiff.

Critics have also charged that SuicideGirls has dishonestly claimed to be a women-owned and women-operated business, when it is actually co-owned by Suhl. There has been no evidence, however, that the company has ever denied his involvement, and he has always been an active personality on the website.

In response to the controversy, the website set up a page called "Trash Can," on which Missy addresses the various allegations and current models relay their positive experiences with the site.

Image removal
=============
Also in September 2005, SuicideGirls announced that it had removed a large number of images from its pages, in an attempt to avoid scrutiny in the U.S. Justice Department's so-called "war on porn." The images involved depicted bondage and sadomasochism and real or simulated blood or weapons. Communications from the Justice Department indicated that images of that type might be the subject of obscenity prosecutions, though SuicideGirls was not mentioned as a target. Because Suicide Girls was never mentioned as a target, some have accused the site of using the "war on porn" as an excuse to remove some images that they no longer wanted on their site while shifting the blame for the image removal to the Justice Department.

I checked out both http://www.godsgirls.com or http://www.deviantnation.com websites, and since both require a payment to become a member, I somehow doubt I'll be a member of either website. Sorry, just not my thing these days, but it would be interesting to see them live (I won't be showing up, but I'm sure other people would like to see the entertainment).

I don't see what the big deal is...it's pretty common to sign a contract preventing you from working for competition for a certain period of time. - Wed, 27 Sep 2006 4:24pm

Wikipedia isn't an accurate source of factual information given that anyone can edit it. Also SG was in fact started as a tiny business by a woman out of Portland - what it's grown into can be the subject of debate or opinion, but that Godsgirls garbage really is a trashy fake alterna-porn site owned by Gavin Lloyd, a guy who owns numerous hardcore porn websites, and any former SG model who actually signs onto it needs their head examined given what that kind of ownership allows for.
So I'm curious about you guys who say you "hate" the company - have you ever actually met and talked to someone who models for the site and what they think of it? Or are you basing your opinions entirely on what you've read on the internet? - Wed, 27 Sep 2006 7:23pm Edited: Wed, 27 Sep 2006 7:26pm

It's not only the fact you can't work elsewhere, it's the fact that the pictures of them they upload, they loose copyright over.

This became a problem when SG started selling pictures to other porn sites. Thus, models showing up on much more hardcore based sites when they of course did not want this to happen. - Wed, 27 Sep 2006 10:34pm

Losing copyright over images of yourself you've sold to someone or something else is standard (not uploading, let's be clear here - SELLING to SG). ADS for SG showing up on other sites doesn't count, that too is standard practise and more than likely is what is being referred to when you're referencing someone else's example of this supposedly happening. "Hardcore" sites wouldn't buy SG photos because A) they're not hardcore, and B) SG would lose exclusivity.
If everyone held copyright over their own image in say, films, nothing could ever be done with them without prior consent of those who were filmed. Regardless, models should get an attorney to look over their contract and if they are uncomfortable with the wording they can ask to have it changed. I know this can be done because my girlfriend did it. - Thu, 28 Sep 2006 9:10am Edited: Thu, 28 Sep 2006 9:11am

I can't look at that site since I'm at work. Again, this is all in the contract that models sign, and if a model doesn't get an attorney to look over a contract she's signing it's no one's fault but her own. The contract can be altered, it's not difficult. You act as if this is some kind of unheralded unforeseeable breach of rights, which it clearly isn't in any legal sense. If they didn't ever want to end up on some other website maybe they should have read their contracts more carefully. - Thu, 28 Sep 2006 2:49pm Edited: Thu, 28 Sep 2006 2:51pm

yeah I have talked to a few former SG models, and a few still going, as well as many girls that wish to model for them. Mostly over the internet though (former models that is)... I also have read a lot of what former models have had to say, there was also a site, now removed, which I can not remeber the name of... Anyways, it was started by former models, and talked about all these issues, including the selling of pictures to other websites without the consent or prior knowledge of the models. And sure it might be legal, but, for a compny that claimed to be an ethical alternative, it seams rather out of charactor, and has pissed off many models. Still there is also the mistreatment claims, as well as claims that some models signed contracts for $300 a set, and did not recieve that much payment.
regardless, in the end SG is nothing more than just anouther porn site, only with a different target audience... us. - Thu, 28 Sep 2006 3:12pm

Okay I read all that.
and when I think of it...
I have nothing against the company, when you think of it. Almost every company is like that. There just trying to get a monopoly on what they do. And thats the point of a buisness...is to achive that.. and well make money. And obviously there is gonna be some people pissed about it. Its a huge website and company, so there bound to be some people preaching on how bad it is etc.

I say, its a website that was made to make money. So fucking what, just like any other.
Another point is... I don't really care.

I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED THE SHOW!

Alright we can argue until we're all blue in the face about the ethics of SG's business practices and clearly it won't go anywhere. But I would contend the mistreatment claims since I've never seen anything factual and verfiable to back that up, other than "I heard from a guy who knows this girl who saw so-and-so one time".
I think the difference between SG and any regular mainstream porn site (like that punkrockgirlfriend thing I did get to look at - not "hardcore porn" by the way, just trashy mainstream softcore) is that the models keep journals and portray themselves however they want. Some of them are openly gay or others talk about their boyfriends, husbands or kids. I doubt too many other porn sites would allow that. Anyways, I've said my bit. I've got to get back to the world of zombies. - Fri, 29 Sep 2006 10:20am

Why do all the websites in this group of softcore websites look similar?!? Can't anyone do something original for a change?!? Outta curiosity, I wonder if any of the models originally came from/live on the island?!? No, it's not cause I'm a Dirty Old Man, I just enjoy hearing success stories, that's all. - Fri, 29 Sep 2006 12:25pm Edited: Fri, 29 Sep 2006 12:26pm

(Model Mayhem is a website based for Photographers, Models, and others trying to break in the industry)

It's rather interesting, and has quite a few people who have worked with SG who talk about it.

And thats all I'll say now :) - Fri, 29 Sep 2006 3:50pm

Brian VIHC: "Wikipedia isn't an accurate source of factual information given that anyone can edit it."

You're mistaken actually. Here is one study examining the accuracy of Wikipedia .VS. traditional sources:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4530930.stm

Of course, if you're the type of person to believe everything you read from a single source, you're a bit naive anyway. - Sat, 30 Sep 2006 5:25pm
