Finally, a better recording of the deadbeats. Listen to the Latin Quarter. http://www.purevolume.com/thedeadbeatz - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 1:33am

Listening to "Latin Quarter"....
I'll try not to comment on production choices or performances because as we know, one man's alvacado is another man's pomegranate....

From a mix perspective I think the bass is a bit too loud and slightly "farty" for my taste. Also the hihats are killing me. It's like they're the only part of the kit with a microphone on it....I'd try and pull the drums forward a bit and push the hats back. Should put a bit more punch into the groove. If you can get a better balance in the rhythm section I think the song would benefit.

Keep working on it, I don't think you're quite there yet.

hey....ya asked....

Also, I'd consider taking this quote off your page:
"Heres some shitty recordings we did in some creepy guys basement. Hope You enjoy."

Doesn't really go with the title of this thread... just my opinion

Listened again....

I think the kick is actually loud enough, it's just not very defined which makes makes the low end of the track a little mushy and lacking punch. One more comment: The stereo panned vocals on the chorus seem too loud and dry in comparison to the verses (where it sits much better) the result is a bit jarring and not really in context with the rest of the song.

this is only my opinion of course, so take it as that....
