deranged monkey well my knees are still sore. and like always the music got better as the night went on.

1.corrupting julia--I was bracing myself for the potentially unpleasing vocals, which were a fair ways away from the worst I've heard. all in all, needs work, and time to mature, esp. in the, cough, humour dept. Gay Eskimo? c'mon guys...

2.tweak--they're also SMU kids. however I am not going to get into school-bashing here, and I will congratulate them on their getting together this show and playing better music than I expected from them. you have my humble applause, boys. as the gym teachers say to their favourite students, way to be.

3.social few--they did a lot of moving, trying to fill that strange hole which suddenly appeared where the mosh pit used to be after their first song or something. they're the lucky boys which got to be the middle act, and so (unfortunately?) I can't remember much at all.

4.gimmick--wow, from Ladysmith, eh? well they must have some time on their hands, because although they didn't wow me, they were relatively decent. At least they closed up that hole I wrote of previously...

5.lythic blue--despite what others might say I like lythic blue. Martin has a totally awesome voice; it's fun to watch him getting so wrapped up in the music, too. And that's just one guy--the way all of them fit together... Although everyone was getting tired (at least in body) by the time they started their set, if you looked around you would have seen almost everyone involved mentally in the music--they start to get that intent listening look.

For five bucks it was a pretty good way to spend a Saturday night I would have otherwise spent on less-noteworthy endeavours. - Sun, 19 Jan 2003 3:36pm
Fetus Mongerer Corrupting julia - Way better than I expected, very cool kids

Tweak - Why is the best looking member in the back? put luke on cowbell or something

Social Few - Though I was saddened that there were no classic down with inglish these guys still fukin rocked, they certainly jump around a lot and that was really cool to watch. emo rules!

Gimmick - Sweet band from ladysmith, would have bought their cd if i had any money

Lythic Blue - I would let all of thse guys have their ways with me if they wanted - Sun, 19 Jan 2003 5:53pm
Fetus Mongerer correction "classic down with inglish Songs*"

what the fucks wrong with smu kids? - Sun, 19 Jan 2003 5:58pm
buddy i think the more apropriate question here is ; what isn't wrong with smu kids ? - Sun, 19 Jan 2003 6:56pm

dusty from social few the show was super fun, thank you so much to every one who put on the show. all the bands were rad and there were a lot of people who said that they REALLY liked us, so to those people, thank you so much, you rule. to those who didn't like us, well we can't please everyone but we'll work on it , hope to see you out at another of our shows soon! (of course you can get crazy to emo! im still shaking off a concussion from our last show...) - Sun, 19 Jan 2003 8:40pm
Anonymous Lythic Blue was pretty, Social Few fucking blew, as did all the other bands. Gimmick was pretty tight also. - Sun, 19 Jan 2003 8:51pm
re:hoochy emo comment emo... well I really wouldn't consider social few to be emo cause they don't drink/cry themselves to sleep every night, their soul doesn't exit their mouth when they sing, and they actually have some fellow weirdos to hang around with. They also don't have serious psychiatric problems with "moving on". By the way, this is just speculation. In my mind, emo is a negative term anyways because of it's subjectivity. Labels suck. - Sun, 19 Jan 2003 10:51pm
Where's your scooter, dork. Hey "Bass Hoochy", not everyone needs to dress up in a corny zoot suit with horned rimmed glasses, listening to gay horns while rehashing the same beats over and over again, to be able to "jump around". A ska fan slagging emo is like the pot calling the kettle black. Fuckhead! - Sun, 19 Jan 2003 11:12pm

corny zoot suit with horned rimmed glasses? Zoot suits are swing baby yeah! and Horned Rimmed Glasses? isn't that old rock'n roll or possibly the new emo style? Oh and I dare you to call my horn gay to my face (which I doubt you will considering you cant leave your own fucking name) - Mon, 20 Jan 2003 12:40am
Jesus You fools!! emo = emotion, there is a wide range of emotion, from happy to sad, emo is about really showing this emotion in your music. and what the hell is up with this person whose all like "by the way labels suck" is this some desperate attempt to appear hardcore..anyway guys "blink are such sellouts and uhhh down with mtv" - Mon, 20 Jan 2003 9:22am

Mags The show was filled with a bunch of hootchies and lame ass wannabes. Fuck. When the hell did becoming punk become the " popular" thing to do? The whole movement of punk is against the grain and against all things that are " popular" and "normal". It bugs the fuck outta me that its becoming commercialized and shit. Fuck Avril Lavine and Fuck the commercialization of punk rock. You should be ashamed of yourselves. - Mon, 20 Jan 2003 1:30pm

dusty from social few wow. look at the mess our EMO music has created on this website! i guess since that guy said we 'fucking blew' we should quit playing and cry ourselves silly...you wish pal. we aren't gonna stop just cuz you don't like us. sorry, but we love to play so if you don't like us then tell everyone we suck cuz then more people might hear about us! thanks alot man! have a great day:) - Mon, 20 Jan 2003 7:41pm
Fetus Mongerer yes yes good on yah dusty. i doubt anyone posting here could put on the kind of show that social few put on, and you know what im tired of? people saying about how punk has gone to hell and punk isnt punk anymore and all that bullshit..i mean how did that even start...someone just said it because its like the cool thing to say. enough already we get it, let people like the music they wish to like, sure bands like blink 182 or whatever sell millions of records and have lots of phoney girls who love them, but if i think a blink 182 song is good im gonna listen to it, I also listen to a lot of bands that lots of you probably wont have heard of, i listen to what i like, as should all you people, what are bands like that really doing thats so bad? the only people i would have a problem with are people like avril lavigne who boast about rockin out on guitar and goin around dissing britney spears when their songs are exactly fucking the same and she dosent even play guitar and "co-writes" her songs with the same fucking people who britney spears "co-writes" her songs with, anyway what am i even saying? lets get back to reviewing that show..social few and lythic blue are super nifty - Mon, 20 Jan 2003 8:01pm
dusty from social few thanks bro, come up and introduce yourself at our next show i want to kiss you!!! well maybe not...but ill shake your hand! take care:) - Mon, 20 Jan 2003 8:55pm

Fetus Mongerer what the hell is hip hop anyway? Is it interchangable with rap? why did usher fall into a giant glass of milk and now he looks like justin timberlake? why dont girls want to go out with me? what is the key to salvation? why dont we go back to reviewing that show like..2 nights ago or whatever...the drummer for tweak really sux i hate him - Mon, 20 Jan 2003 11:59pm
Fetus Mongerer note: above message not slag, just bugging my buddy luke...yah thats right im like all tight with the band tweak and shit... - Tue, 21 Jan 2003 12:02am
Roulette Okay okay girls and boys. First of all I didnt go to the show because I would only be paying to see one band which would be: LYTHIC BLUE! They're the only ones with talent that were playing...And yes Martin DOES rule. Gimmick can suck a big fat dick and Tweak: ARENT THEY ONLY 15 OR SOMETHING? I dunno they remind me of New Found Glory or something...The only reason people actually go to their shows is because of stupid 15 year old girls who think one of the band memebers is hot. STUPID GIRLS! Also to Alastair: AVRIL SUCKS!!! Ha. And what the hell does every subject on this board turn into "Im more Punk then you" or "Im going to make fun of EMO!" Although, EMO is pretty funny......*does the EMO dance* - Tue, 21 Jan 2003 3:17pm
Mini Mags yeah Roulette.. I hear ya... exactly my point. Stupid little bitchy hootchy girls only showing up for the quote on quote " punk boys"... urgh... Does anyone else ever notice that all the hot punk boys always go out with the stupid twinky blondes? man, that pisses me off... anywho...emo is good, let social few reinvent themselves if they choose to. Shwang Flanny hey. I know 2 of the bands. I liked the show on the whole. I am with the fetus monger wit the "listen to whatever you want" argument.

I thought all the bands were great.

Corrupting Julia: Funniest band

Tweak: I liked them, I know them, they are good guys, and sound decent. (btw they are 16)

Social Few: Best show- involved the crowd, took over the hole that was once the "mosh" pit, and did some crazy shit with the guitars. Didn't focus on lyrics, which is different, and good.

Gimmick: A good, professional sounding band, (I like the CD, but they sound better live) Fun. Tried to get the crowd moving, but it didn't happen.

LythicBlue: Sweet. Different than the other punk-ish/emo-ish bands, and I liked them. Wide range of songs, and the best, and excellent choice for the show.

***Also, if you don'tlike a band/artist/label for anything they do, don't listen to it. They aren't puttinga gun to your head and saying "listen to my fucking music". It's your choice. - Wed, 22 Jan 2003 5:31pm

Anonymous Fetus Mongerer, the fact is Social Few ISNT punk, at all. They are 4 guys who play really shitty music, do gay dancing things on stage, and roll around acting dramatic. They suck. - Thu, 23 Jan 2003 3:49pm
Fetus Mongerer Jesus christ i never said that social few isnt punk? what the fuck is punk anyway? punk dosent exist anymore, tell me mister my name is a line, what do you consider punk like "nofx rancid bad religion because some guy wearing a studded bracelet told me they were" just because somethings not punk isnt a reason to say its bad, besides, theres nothing can be defined as punk anymore...i'd describe social few as more of an emo rock band.... - Fri, 24 Jan 2003 12:30am
Anonymous yer a fuckin jerk off. - Fri, 24 Jan 2003 1:21am
dusty from social few hey cool guy, if you are so uptight about seeing 4 guys onstage having fun and trying to make everyone else have fun, how the hell can you say we suck? would you like us to get onstage play some loud, fast music with no structure and scream till we puke then tell the audience to fuck off and go to hell? well if that is a good show then you must be one easy kid to please. im sure that if you come out to our shows with an open mind, i guarantee that you'll have fun and maybe even enjoy yourself by just checking out the music and not trying to be 'punk' or whatever. we have nothing against punk , we all listen to it, but we don't play it. we play just what WE like to hear. we play a show with stuff that WE would want to see, so if you don't enjoy yourself and think we suck...sorry y'all. see you at our next show:) - Fri, 24 Jan 2003 1:21am
cam frum tweak hey steve, thanx for backin us up at the show with the lyrics and now here on this show review. ne ways, what the fuck does hoochy girls mean ne ways? mark if u could email us that would be great u FAT FUCK!!!!!!! u should be nice to us. - Sat, 25 Jan 2003 2:57pm

Anyone heard of Screemo?(sreeming emo) sounds like a horrible genre to me - Sun, 26 Jan 2003 7:59pm
HARi The show i found was a bunch of stupid kids under 21(?) playing rock and roll or jock rock.(singin about their made up girlfriends and such) The first band i had to say showed that this show was going to suck all together....GREEN DAY covers...come on. the second band whoever the fuck, were almost just as crappy. The middle band i quite liked for they were the only ones that seemed to be having a good time and be playing good music. The rest was crapy except L.b. for i think they have talent but there music i think otherwise. I also did not like how everyones parents and grandparents where they...it just made it really bad. I know i am just another stupid teenager in another stupid "punk" band and if i am to ever have a show there will be some arsh whole just like me righting crap about my band....but atleast i would not be bringing my whole family to the show.. - Sun, 26 Jan 2003 11:33pm

Anyway, I have a question: I'm in a band and everyone in my band wants to play greenday covers at shows but me. I think its a really lame and cheap thing to do. How can I convince them of this???
