"ALWAYS AGAINST THE ODDS, ONE WITH THE UNDERDOGS"

*HOODRATS-Good old punk rock from these boys, rippin guitar player too. they have come a ways since i saw them last.

*AK47-what else can you say about this band, THE RADNESS
i was pretty stoked they played 2 bit terrorist for me considering i was bugging tony about it before hand!!
and also ending with go fuck yourself was pretty sweet!!
these guys are solid dudes, i look up to this band a lot.
and not just cause goluza is so tall.

*FNM- (can't really review my own band)
i had a few hardware problems with my drums which really sucked a lot. but all i can say is it was rad how chris from in stride came up and did vocals on our rough cover of terror - one with the underdogs. if we ever go to vancouver we'll have to do that again. that shit was tight.

*IN STRIDE-these guys are awesome, they always get the crowd moving. it's always good to see bands who have something to talk about with real substance and meaning. - Mon, 7 Nov 2005 7:33am

-I didn't dig the Hoodrats, with the solos it got to be a "Yeah, we get it, you're good at guitar" Just not my thing I guess. Talented though, alot moreso than me.
-AK47 was amazing as usual. Still my favorite local band. And you'll find out, that you fucked up again, Go fuck yourself!
-FNM Was awesome as usual, glad to see the Terror cover again.
-In Stride, it's obviously a party when these guys are around. The circlepits were pretty pathetic, but oh well, it is Victoria, after all.
I had a bunch of fun at this show, anybody who didn't come, missed out. - Mon, 7 Nov 2005 9:31pm

I thought all bands were awesome but In Stride needed less talk and more music. Seemed like they were trying to make friends and bond with the audience more then actually entertain the people that paid $7 bux to get in.
As for slEeazy you have very sexy man hair. I have never ever seen such shiny luxurious locks on a man! - Wed, 9 Nov 2005 11:38pm

I don't agree with the preaching comment, or the making friends comment. In Stride had a positive message and the music is tied with the message. The between-song banter helped people understand the music and meaning they intended behind it. - Thu, 10 Nov 2005 1:37am

I liked In Stride. The talking is an important part of what this music is all about. I would have liked to hear a couple more songs from them but they WERE on last. Their show reminded me a lot of Terror at an all-ager. Seeing the crowd get so stoked all adds to it too.
P.S. I have about 65 pictures from this show too, so if anyone wants to see them, email me at

Hardcore is about more than jsut being entertained. I like to hear bands talk in between songs. What did Chad say that you thought was preaching? I you just want to be entertained, go listen to Cannibal Corpse or Gwar or something. - Thu, 10 Nov 2005 3:22pm

Man, if anyone thought that show was "preachy" try coming with me in my time-travelling Delorean back to the good old days when EVERY vocalist at a show would rant in between songs about something. Depending on who you were listening to - say, Trial or Black Kronstadt - it could be energizing and inspiring, or in the case of, uh other bands I won't name, tiring, depressing and obnoxious.
As for In Stride, they probably knew and have hung out with 1/2 the people there so a certain amount of jokiness is to be expected. - Thu, 10 Nov 2005 4:30pm

I think the major difference between thinking a band is preachy or not is whether or not you can relate with what their talking about. I find most bands consisting of 20 yr olds preaching about life amusing at best as how much life is really experienced by then? Have you voted? Paid rent? Lost family/friends? Battled a drug addiction or stood by someone who has? Had a marriage fail? Been in love? Had a child? Lost a child? Seen a friend killed? Etc....Etc... I want to be clear as well. I must say I HAVE seen young bands with some incredible messages, some of which have made me look inward. So Im not labelling ALL young bands invalid nor would I profess that Im some worldly gentleman who blesses everyone by sharing my gems of wisdom with the masses of idiots. My lyrics are from the heart though (well except broken bonz. Zak and I found them in a basement written on a cigarette package. LOL) and I believe in the messages of my lyrics. Call me old skool but I also TRY to entertain a bit too as that is how I like to have fun on stage. I have been critisized for my use of the blue language as well yet have NEVER seen a single complaint about Goluza swearing. You dont realize I learned all my swears from drinking coffee with Tony 15 years ago at the old Douglas Coffee House. ITS ALL HIS FAULT DONT YA KNOW!!! BASTARD.....LOL Anyways listening to a band talk between songs can seem like an eternity if you happen to disagree with what they say. Personally I think this diversity is what makes the scene so great. So keep talkin, moshin and stop hatin y'all... - Thu, 10 Nov 2005 9:34pm
