This is amazing. I've been on a steady diet of Rites for the past few months. They can do no wrong. I'm a huge fan, possibly my favourite band.

This is much cleaner and coherent release. CRUSHING as fuck. Punishing drums, incredible riffs, deadly vocals, so many twists and turns and . . . solos (uncommon for this band).

If you know nothing of this band . . GET TO KNOW THEM, or suffer a poseur's death. Obscure Blackened Death at its utmost perfection. - Wed, 2 Nov 2005 10:11pm

I've only heard one tune "The Highest Form of Violence" off a project infinity Fire Union sampler, it was pretty good. And of course their live show w/ Inquisition was crushing. I'll have to check this out... - Mon, 28 Nov 2005 2:29am

Just picked this release up, and wasn't sure if it would top the twisted "Totality" CD, but I absolutely was not let down. The production is much clearer and modern sounding compared to the last one in all regards. Guitars are more dynamic in tone, blending seamlessly with the dominating rhythm section which is really full and loud, and of course the vocals are much more deranged. In fact I can't find any flaws at all in the production, all instruments can "breathe" well, with clear distinction between them. The CD is a breathe of fresh air in the somewhat stale and repetitve death metal scene. This one and the Martial Barrage album "Call of the Serapeum" get my vote for best recent Can-death releases in the last few months. - Tue, 3 Jan 2006 11:01pm

It's spelled "hypocrisy".

And I can see where you're coming from with their drummer being from Sacramentary Abolishment and the comments one member stated in an interview. I'm not expert on the band, but did you happen to see Behemoth when they came by to Vancouver or Victoria? Their bassist was, at one time, in a National Socialist band...so that would make you a hypocrit, or ANYONE else who liked that band live too. The thing is, people change. I'm pretty sure their bassist isn't racist at all anymore judging by the fact they played with SUFFOCATION not too long ago. Nothing i've heard from any member of RoTD has been racist. Maybe they kinda disregarded that after they discovered it wasn't the "answer to their mystery". - Fri, 6 Jan 2006 2:44pm

Weird...I was thinking about that topic (regarding SA) when I picked up this album from Lyle's place today.

Uh oh, now I've been busted for being a "RoTG-sympathizer." Oh well...FUCK 'em. This album crushes, it's raw but yet it's got a clean production at the same time, and it has some really cool dissonant melodies (surprisingly) mixed in with the brutality. I really favor the vocals as well, very grim, very black. At first I didn't know if I liked how much louder the drums seemed over the guitars at first...but I like it. The production of all the instruments seemed to all mould well into each other as the album progressed...at least for me.

There's no lyrics in the insert...but the "mission statement" on the inside seems to define what they're about to me...ritualistic misanthropy, with some strong Satanic influence (left hand path, etc.) I don't detect rascism from it, but then again, before THIS thread gets moved to the controversy and quarantine section, I suggest anyone weary of that should converse with the band directly (if you have the balls.) - Fri, 20 Jan 2006 6:41pm
