What an awesome night. Hundreds of kids out to see a bunch of great local bands. What did you guys think? Who'd ya like? Who'd ya dislike? Who'd ya wanna bone?

Good night, met cool new people and saw some great performances. I think we were all surprised by the fat ass drum sound from that little shared kit. Good night Victoria. - Mon, 17 Oct 2005 2:27am

Next of Kin also won for best vocals/singer with that chick just belting out with power! Next of Kin rocked hard not just because of the girl singing but she showed what a great singer can do. All the other bands were really awsome except for the third place band, don't get me wrong but I would have liked to see one of the younger bands take third like isle 7, they were pretty damn good. but what can ya do. All in all it was a pretty good show and I hear that they might be doing another one in a month which would be cool. Anyone else have a opinion on the show? - Mon, 17 Oct 2005 10:14am

Good Job to all the bands

Congrats to the vendors!, Definately put in the effort to get lots of people out to the show, same with the other bands.

Nicely done. - Mon, 17 Oct 2005 10:19am

wasnt there a fourth place? HRP def. deserved second, they rock the shit, and the vendours are really solid too, however, redhead stepchild did not really deserve third. - Mon, 17 Oct 2005 10:48am

all in all it was a sick show. great turnout, and they were into it. the bands that got the prizes hauled ass and deserved to get what they did. even the other bands went up got it going good. i felt bad going after the vendors. there could've been a good switch there between us and them. but it was damn good to play with them, and all the other bands. - Mon, 17 Oct 2005 11:21am

it was a shitshow that, after everything setteled, wasn't too bad. special props to the deadbeats - harry when you're nineteen im going to break your fingers.
also to the vendors - those drumbeats were insane and stage dives onto your face are so hot right now.

also, the really sweet kids that punched holes in the backstage area wall, keep on being really sweet. cos we all know ruining venue is sooo cool.

Yeah, it sucked for us, my band got the cut, Dead City Radio, which is really too bad cause I really wanted to play that small kit. It did sound incredible, I guess thats the yamaha name for you. But seeing that many bands then watching Social Code im thinking that anyone of those bands should easily be in Social Code's shoes. Ive never heard anything from them before, but it didn't strike me as anything special. - Mon, 17 Oct 2005 2:55pm

I'm just real curious, wanless, but why was your band cut? Also, were other bands cut? I saw 13 bands on the ticket... - Mon, 17 Oct 2005 5:15pm

Bands got cut due to lack of time that was caused by the promoter showing up late.

HRP rocked. Small Town Hooker was pretty good. Didn't see the winners, so can't compare. I didn't think Next of Kin was that great - and they played a cover, don't they even have 4 songs?
As far as the organization goes, it sucked. I mean how hard could it be to print a list of bands and stick to that order. Also it was pretty expensive considering none of the bands got paid except Social Code. - Tue, 18 Oct 2005 7:59am

Congrats to the Vendors, and other winners - it was cool meeting you guys. I'm glad things went well for most of the bands, and sorry to hear that some were cut.

Things sucked for us. Granted we didn't sell that many tickets (19), but not one of those 19 had made it through the door by the time we were told to start - as they hadn't opened the doors soon enough. Things got worse when one of the amps, that they provided, gave out after two songs. There was no replacement, so we had to cut our set short and finish with one guitar. Shitty deal for friends of ours, that paid $12 mainly to see us - who don't even know who Social Code are.

Hey, Alicia from Next of Kin here. Geez, ouch, yes we did only play four originals and one cover, but it's a song we enjoy playing, and we've put our own spin on it, so we played it. Thanks to those who came out, The Vendors and HRP were pretty sweet, and definitely deserved 1st and 2nd. Sucks that other bands got cut. I like how nobody knew what the hell was going on until 5 minutes before playing. I thought the turn out was great considering it was a sunday night and 12 bucks. Hope the promoters enjoy all the money they made!

I had a lot of fun playing and thought it sounded really, really good. THat harshly sucks for Dirt Fella, with the whole shit amp thing. All the sound was really good throughout the whole show, everyone sounded good, especially the vendors and HRP they rocked. my band said we'd sell 24 tickets and sold like 43 so we played second but it was still so much fun. and some guy from HB studios is interested in us, so I think it was a success, except social code sucks. and we screwed over acidwash... - Tue, 18 Oct 2005 2:34pm

Social code is just one of those bands that is doing what the producers want right now. It's kind of like Simple Plan, simple music that young people can understand. And yah, i doubt too many people were actually there for social code. Like i said, they don't make better music than any of the bands that played. - Tue, 18 Oct 2005 3:37pm

Yeah, it was a fun show. My favorite part was the lady who chased the promoter backstage asking for her money back and something in writing. Oh, and there were some wicked cool bands playing too. I didn't get a chance to see Social Code, nor did I really care too much... but they did it right, in terms of getting a big crowd in there. Marketing geniuses, they deserve their big bundle of case, even considering how late they were. Brilliant way to sell tickets, and the venue was set up really nicely, right down to the more then helpful sound guy. Really enjoyed small town hooker and next of kin - both sounded really tight.

other than them being late and it going so damn long, i'd say the show was good. We didn't have to pay anything, got to play for a shitload of people and got some free shit. I'd recommend the event to any other bands looking for some exposure, cause i know we got quite a bit. - Wed, 19 Oct 2005 12:40pm

Overall a good show to watch. Poor organization with scheduling, and the cutting of bands for an event like this cannot be excused.

That said, the idea is a great one for getting out good numbers to see local bands play.

I enjoyed watching Next of Kin, and Alicia definitely earned the award for top vocalist.

Small Town Hooker were also good, and had a solid stage presence. They were good at what they do, and I enjoyed them despite not liking that type of music in general.

I went to see my buddies in Kilamanca and they put on a quality show as usual. I could see they were really having fun on stage, and overall the thing was worth the $12.

Congrats to the top 3 finishers. - Wed, 19 Oct 2005 2:18pm

Yeah, it was a wicked show. How many people do you think showed up? Cause there was quite the large number of people there.

All the bands where awesome and Hrp really rocked, we've played with them before.
I would of liked to see the host pronounce our bands name correctly atleast once haha...like really, how hard can it be, just read exactly how its spelt.

Anyways congrats to all the bands, it was fun playing with all of you. Hopefully you guys enjoyed our set, love to play again. - Wed, 19 Oct 2005 4:12pm
