Well then - less than a month away!
I put a question mark after C.C. because at the Immolation gig two months ago the Despised Icon vocalist informed me that C.C. can't make it and will be replaced by D.I.
I tried my best not to pull a long face when he told me this. Hopefully C.C. have gotten their shit together since then and will show up.

However on all the Cryptopsy tour announcements they are touring with a band called With Passion and they were listed on the Victoria date too. No mention of Aborted or Suffocation.. Ive seen this listing from Galy, Century and in the Fire Union Newsletter which I think Galy provides the dates to..

I hope its Cephalic! - Fri, 23 Sep 2005 9:37am

I don't think Cephalic will be here. They are only on a few of the dates of this tour, Victoria not being one of them :( . Plus they are planning their own headlining tour, so that'll make up for it.

With Passion is similar to DI . . same old metal core nonsense. UGH!!

HOWEVER, Cryptopsy AND Suffocation in the same night is like a dream come true!!!!! - Fri, 23 Sep 2005 9:44am

What's this, Mike, about no mention of Aborted nor Suffocation in Cryptopsy's tour announcements?!?! Wow - that is such a mind-blowingly putrid, shitty thing if that is indeed the case. Especially considering With Passion (WTF kinda fucking gayer-than-fucking-gay name is that anyway?) will be playing instead - those bunch o'numbnuts are weaker than.....than....oh I dunno.....Pink Steel? Saw them backing up Immolation at the Commodore and man did they make me burp up barf. Almost prog at times, and their singer looked like a bigger version of Oscar from "The Tin Drum". - Fri, 23 Sep 2005 5:44pm

Ok, we just got the word on the current line up for this bill. It is........Cryptopsy, Suffocation, Despised Icon, and Aborted. No one has told us if With Passion are coming or not?

On a side note, if you are in Vancouver this weekend go to the Vancouver International Film Fest and check out the premier of the metal documentary "Metal: A Headbangers Journey" by Victoria local boy done good; Sam Dunn on Oct. 7th at The Granville Cinema. Some of you might remember Sam as one of the hosts of Overkill on CFUV, or as a member of Scrape Chamber or Fungkus. More info...www.viff.org - Mon, 3 Oct 2005 8:31pm

Heyyy

I am in the dark when it comes to this new metal stuff. I'm a fan of heavy driving metal... not too fast. I'm old so my top, and always favorite, will always be Black Sabbath. I was around in the cross-over (MOC and Fratercide) days but the speed at times lost me. I used to like to go see the Smalls and Fu-Manchu... Pentagram blows my mind.

I recon what i'm asking here is what do these bands Cryptopsy, Suffocation, Despised Icon, and Aborted sound like. will i be in for rapid fire drumming with growling grunting vocals with just speed and no slow hard driving heavy riffs? I need Heavy in my metal.

should i go to this show? -rickylong jak - Wed, 5 Oct 2005 6:33pm

rickylong: all these bands (Despided Icon less so - they're more rooted in metallic hardcore) are fast deathmetal, with alot of that blast beat/200+ b.p.m. stuff that you're not too crazy about. Sure, each of them have heavy-as-shit breakdowns in their songs which vary the tempo (i.e. - not as fast), but for the most part you'll be dealing with super technical fast-as-fuck craziness that, as far as I'm concerned, is simply too fucking beautiful for words.
I can definitely assure you, though, you WILL get the heavy in your metal that you're looking for. - Thu, 6 Oct 2005 12:03am

I find it completely outrageous that Aborted, who rule, may have to open this show, thereby playing before With Passion and Despised Icon, who I believe to be, relative to Aborted, two bunches of fucking chumps (musically speaking). There. - Mon, 17 Oct 2005 7:50pm

This is what sucks about shows happening in Victoria too, we don't get to visit with people. Have a great time tonight Curmudgeon!
