| Platoon User Info... | Hailing from Shifty Records Ultralord boasts a veteran line up. The members of this band can say they have played or still play in bands such as Necrodamus, Madman Mundt, Fistula, King Travolta, and more. With all of this experience the members of Ultralord have brought one of the heaviest most vitriolic albums of 2005 from within the bowels of Shifty Records. Ultralord are a very heavy, aggressive, psychadelic band that helps to bring solos back to heavy music. Two songs which reinforce the heavy, aggressive, and psychadelic vibes on Act I include 'Misery Sweet Misery' and 'How Long Has It Been?' These two songs stretch out time and send the listener through whirling dimensionsal travel. 'Msery Sweet Misery' is a ten minute plus song that will have your head spinning. The listener will time travel more than Marty Mcfly in a Back to the Future marathon as the song is so heavy that it begins to hypnotize the listener. The overlapping solos will leave your brain farting as you try and keep up with all of the craziness that is about to engulf you. 'How Long Has It Been?' is nearly seven minutes in length and is just as insane 'Misery Sweet Misery'. Vocalist Corey (ex-Fistula, King Travolta) has no shortage of passion and pain bleeding from his tortured throat. 'How Long Has It Been?' is a sick and tormented song with raw vocals. The raw vocals are perfectly accentuated by the soulful guitar work of Necrodamus which play off the tortured and tormented feel to the song. This song gives off very tortured and demonic vibes. With all of the dimensional travel aside, Ultralord also knows how to induce rabid headbanging with songs such as 'Under The Gallows', 'Dragon Milk', and 'Black Maggot'. With all of the mind warping music, rabid headbanging, and foaming at the mouth, Ultralord conclude the album with 'The Great Mourning'. The tone of 'The Great Mourning' seems very mellow which allows for some very psychadelic solo wizardry by the very talented guitarist Necrodamus. UltraLord Act I is a heavy, sludgy, doomy, album that will appeal to a very wide cross section of metalheads as the vocals and guitar work will impress people beyond its underground roots. - Wed, 17 Aug 2005 11:46am | ||
