Actually Joy, it was more like six months. But yeah, great show, had a blast. We all understand different sides of the story about the fight, i didnt see the start, i dont think many people did, so i'll reserve judgement as their both friends of mine. Dont get hard on the drunks now, you can make a fortune off our cans, hah.

I really liked The Midnight Riders, very good start to the show, coming up that dark path listening to their tunes was a great start to the night.

Eight Bit Dream suprised me, last time we shared the stage with them i didnt think much of em, but man they rocked my socks.

Dog Pile was just hilarious, good on ya boys.

DIY and The Proles dont really count, as i was playing as opposed to watching.

The drinking was controlled and nobody got seriously ill, all in all it went very well, besides some random scuffles.

thanks for the show joey, cant tell you how happy i was to get to play with the boys from DIY again.

Cheers,

good show for sure. i agree that drunken folks can be obnoxious sometimes... depending on the drunken folk. and zac's so right... joey coulda made like 10 bucks on empties.

'twasn't a bad space for the middle of nowhere and i felt comfortable cuz i pretty much knew everyone there. bands rocked, fights happened (2 girls started going at it and 2 other girls tried pulling them off each other then boys got involved and testosterone is a bad hormone during a fight. i think one of the girls had testosterone. it seemed pretty petty as usual. happens when there's a bunch of egos flying through the air.)

I realized zac's a better guitar player than luc. just listen to the difference in business man song. you know how i say. it to the cow what mine light phone twizzl fabble.

Cmon, lets not hate on particular groups of people, there were plenty of drunkpunks there who were well behaved. The fighting pisses me off as much as anyone, but it happened, and no offence joey but he wasnt disrespecting your place, he was getting his girlfriend out of a fight.

why is it that a rescource like live vic spreads this kind of shit? the fights were between indaviduals, not any sub-group with some monosalabic callsign.

anyways, just my two cents, fueled by a few pitchers and some rum.

PS: theres no fuckin way im better than luc. - Sun, 20 Mar 2005 2:18am

und i coulda done w/o the skrewdriver... well at least boots und braces is a good song... i can respect the skins... you know "Outta my way, I'm a skinhead. I have a dress code." as katt would say. all in all das konzert war komisch eine gute zeit. - Sun, 20 Mar 2005 10:19am

Ok, fun show!! Was fucking AWESOME to finally be able to play a show with everyone again... MUCH thanks to Joey for having us! And I hope there was not too much of a mess or damage or anything to his place. As far as the fighting goes...Shit happens but Ken DID get dragged in by trying to break it up!! And I think the bottling him in the head a bunch of times was TOTALLY unnecessary!! As far as comparing mine and zac's playing all I'm gonna say is that I had bens ass jammed into my hands and guitar during all of business man and I hadn't jammed in over 5 months, in fact I hadn't really even played an electric guitar!! Not that I'm actually good or anything but....anyways Fuckin awesome show! Loved the Midnight Riders, Fuckin awesome, Eight bit dream was pretty rad, DogXPile was funny, Hari didn't look too into it but he was still givin some rad drumming! The Proles were fucking awesome, first time I had heard the whole band play together! Anyways...Thanks to everyone who treked out into the middle of nowhere to come out to the show! I was amazed so many people found it. And once again much thanks to Joey for putting it on. It's fucking great to be home! Cheers to Everyone!! - Sun, 20 Mar 2005 9:52pm

I have to say, despite the middle-of-nowhere location, it was quite a good show. I was mainly just around for DIY/Proles, but all in all I had a great time.
Eight Bit Dream was good... and by that I mean, without them we couldn't have navigated our way up that dark and winding path to find the show. So, too bad I missed 'em, but they played a part anyhow.
Midnight Riders... have to say they had some talent, especially their guitar player. Not my favorite type of music so much, but they put on a good show.
I can't quite recall which band was dogxpile.. .although the posts on here do bring Hari's comments about wanting to stop to mind so I remember who they were. Can't quite recall what the music sounds like. I blame BullMax.
DIY and the Proles were definately the highlight of the night. I guess I'll list them together since they're half the same band anyway. Good fuckin' job guys, you made it worth the trek out to Sooke. The AWT cover was much loved. Looking forward to that show on April 1st.
As to the fight, I was pretty near it, and it was basicly between the two girls to start. Any guys that jumped in initially were trying to break it apart, not make it worse. I suppose there was mosh pit energy still going, but come on guys, this was a girl fight that escalated... not some kind of dumb confrontation between punks and skins. Nobody started that chant. I hear one person say it once, and he was understandably upset, having just had a bottle smashed over his head for trying to STOP a fight. Keep the bottles out of it next time.
...One-eyed hippie? I can make a pretty good assumption that I know who you're talking about here, and he is totally not the kind of guy to start fights. He's a good guy and not a violent one, so that comment leaves me quite confused. - Mon, 21 Mar 2005 11:17am

Ohhh dear. quite the times on the old ranch. Despite all the crappyinesss of that night (this including my snare stand snapping in two) it looked like everyone was having fun. I am glad people understood DOGXPILE is/was a joke.
8bit are far too talented. DiY did a fantastic job. I think they sounded better then the last time i heard them. It was sad that Ben was singing about some youth unity hogwash and inturn people just started fights. To defend myself with the Skrewdriver cover, i played it that night so i would NOT have to play it on apr 1st OR ever again for that matter. "Blaming all of his lifes problems on the evil, evil skinheads.
jerrys dead, your next!"

I didn't see the start of this fight, but Virgil wasn't even involved, and if people say shit like this - regardless if they're trying to be funny or not - I won't have a thing to do with playing shows in Victoria. Virgil's one of the most humble and pure-hearted guys I know - and he's a punk, not a hippie - so stop with the ego-stroking and watch your actions or I WILL lose my respect for the SHOV, if that's what you're about. And if anyone makes a violent move towards Virgil, I will defend him tooth and nail, regardless of how many skins are in on it. I'll trust to the maturity of the SHOV to leave this one be.

Thanks for putting on a good show otherwise Joey, midnight riders were great, 8bit dream played some good punk rock songs, and it was awesome to see DIY again, and playing such a tight set for not having jammed in over half a year. I wouldn't mind trekking out there again if you have another show. - Thu, 24 Mar 2005 10:52am

seems to me when one skin does something, the others tend to follow especially when it comes to violence. that is just an observation i've had. Oi!tober was a good example, more intimidation than actual fighting. I saw one person und a horde of a gazillion skins all looking mad in front of 'im. if one isn't smart enough to submit in such a situation he might find himself dead or in a coma. Probably just cuz he accidentally spilled some water on someone's flight jacket. so what you said, paul just made me think of skins as a bunch of thugs that judge people by their differences. even though i'm sure that isn't the case, when you say things like "jerry's dead, you're next"... i don't think ben is being too dramatic at all when he says he'd stand up for virgil against a horde. I would too. - Sat, 26 Mar 2005 10:09am

the confrontation at oitober happened because a drunk punk fell onto/grabbed the breasts of one of the female attendees at the show who happened to be friends with some of the skins. it wasn't "spilt water" or anything along those lines.

the fight at the sooke show happened between two girls because one of them thought the other was "stealing her man" or something lame. the girl who started the fight attacked the two girls who broke the fight up and other people got involved. it had nothing to do with skins vs. punks. it was about some crazy girl being all stupid. get over it.

maybe kids who can't control themselves should learn how to drink responsibly or not at all. - Sun, 27 Mar 2005 10:17pm

well i wasn't aware of what started the confrontation at oitober, and the reaction seems understandable. though i've been in situations where (not even drunk mind you) i've fallen into or grabbed onto a female in a way that might not seem appropriate, albeit accidentally. one's balance can top-to-flat-to-bottom in a pit sometimes. all you can do is apologize.

anyhow, my point wasn't to discuss punks against skins bullshit. that's tired and lame. i have too many skin head friends to judge any one of them for what they are. my point is that, based on my experience, it seems no matter what the issue is (as the issue may not be known) some folks will "have their friend's back", or throw a bunch of punches no matter what. and often i see a lack of fairness. i'm sorry, it's not necessary to have 4 kids punching 1 person at the same time, or to break a bottle over someone's head, or pull out brass knuckles when you're mad, especially when all the other person has is their own 2 fists.

so, maybe kids who can't control themselves should learn how to FIGHT responsibly or not at all.

edit ~ ooh, and if spongebob can be friends with squidworth and that starfish guy (Patrick!) then why can't we all, people? why? ok, i'm going back to bed. - Mon, 28 Mar 2005 5:13am

hey man, there's a difference between being honourable and being a prick. and if you think shaving your head, wearing some brand names and ganging up on people is being a skinhead, then you're an idiot. if you believe in brotherhood and working class pride, then chances are you're shitkicking your fucking brother when you gang up on a drunk punk, and there's no fucking honour in that.

ah dude, nevermind. i don't even really care anymore. talking to you is like talking to a cd player.

edit... and it's spelled bottle. i may go against most rules when it comes to writing, but i use punctuation so others can read what i'm saying more easily. runonsentencesandwordsw/ospacingorpunctuationseparatingthemaregreatwhenusedforliteraryeffect i hate capitalization for the most part though, so good on ya in that regard. - Tue, 29 Mar 2005 4:09am

Most of the "Skins" at these shows are posers. "Working class pride"??? Give me a fucking break.Maybe one in ten of these kids has worked a dead end job and even knows the concept of being a downtrodden working stiff. The closest thing most of these middleclass suburban posers have come to the "working class" is the guy who vacummes out thier dad's car at the car wash, or the paper route they had in the 5th grade to buy more pogs.

Be honest with yourselves. They shaved thier heads to try to look tough in the hope of intimidating people, and they use the skinhead look and reputation to justify ganging up on a person and laying the beats when they're too much of a pussy on thier own to finish the job on thier own. - Tue, 29 Mar 2005 1:46pm

God, stop talking trash about different sub-cults. This is only going to further the gap between us. I dont consider myself a drunk punk or a skinhead, but I have good friends on both sides of the spectrum, and theres people who like to fight in both camps. It was their fight though, anyone else getting involved and casting their opinions over them and their friends might just want to but out before you get everyone even more worked up.
I didnt see the knuckles, so i can't verify this, but if they were brought to your barn joey, id be more pissed at the one who brought em. Why take brass knuckles to a show if you dont expect to use them? Its just inviting a situation to get ugly.
I'd appreciate it if more people would review the show instead of try to throw their opinions around about this unfortunate event, but I suppose this IS Victoria, and lord knows we cant help but gossip about every fucking thing. - Tue, 29 Mar 2005 10:34pm

Wow am I ever fuckin late on this one.

First off, Paul's comments about me waaaay up there almost made me piss myself. But thanks none the less to those who came to my defence. I'd do the same for you guys.

Having said that, I didn't see the fight but got the story and saw the aftermath. Smashing Kenny over the noodle with a bottle was WAY out of line and deffinately not "doing what had to be done" or how ever the fuck that was put. Some guys just like to hit people I guess, but I'm not going to get too worked up about it. These things always sort themselves out in the end, it's just a matter of how...

Most importantly though, the show fucking rocked so thanks to Joey for putting it on and especially his folks for being so darn cool about it. All the bands ripped but I especially got a kick out of the Midnight Riders (70s fuck rock rules!) and 8 bit dream whom i was told were shitty but actually shredded everything to ribbons. Drank lots and spent the night under the stars with two lovely ladies and one not so lovely gutter punk. All in all it was a pretty alright night.

Nice pictures, btw.

Have fun at the Lancecasters show (you bastards). I'd be there myself but i'm letting some so called "doctors" cut holes in me that day. Someone get really drunk for me.

Bwahahahahahah, what a bunch of tools, skins and punks have found reasons to hit each other for twenty five years, who cares. Sure most skinheads have a gang mentality, so do skaters, and punks, and every other subculture. You back your own, end of story. I only have one thing to say to any of this whole thread. Someone did a Skrewdriver song and thinks it's funny? I will just tell you from the bottom of my heart that if I had of been at that show I would of been smacking you in the head with a beer bottle. Racism is fucking sick and it's never funny, but for some reason there does in fact seem to be some people in the scene that think it is acceptable. Well for future reference, it's not funny, ever. It is in fact actually one of the few things I can think of that I consider perfectly acceptable reasons for kicking someones face in. Dont bother telling me they werent a racist band in the beginning either I have heard it a million times. - Thu, 31 Mar 2005 11:16pm
