Awsome show.

Closet Monster: Show didn't start out too hot with these guys. They were really tight, but it was just to much pop-punk for me.

Hopesfall: I was really impressed. Probably the heaviest band at the show. Alexis may have sounded heaveir, but that was only because the sound board was cranked up more for them. Hopesfall have a new album coming out in Nov. I'm buying it. Only critisism: they had like three songs with these long mellow melodic parts that just groved for a few minutes. I liked them, but the singer just swayed back and forth like he was bored or something. I thouhgt these parts would have been ten times better with some vocals in them.

Moneen: I'd been hearing hype about thses guys for years. They pretty much lived up to all of it. The rocked hard, and they had a great sense of humour in their act. I think there was a few times were they could have taken less time between songs.

Alexisonfire: I saw these guys when they played at Legends, and I was not happy. At legends, the sound was shit, and Alexis was playing mostly songs from their debut album, so it all sounded the same. I actually got so bored that I left afer half an hour through their set. Apparently it got pretty entertaining after I left. Oh well. A few weeks later I heard their new CD, "watch out." I couldn't believe it. These guys are like a different band now. Way more technical, some amazing vocal melodies, and each song shows diversity. Now did their show at Sugar hold up to "watch out?" Fuck yeah! Probably the best performance that I've ever seen in Victoria (maybe Tea Part at the Royal back when Transmission just came out). Great sound, great energy, and the songs were executed perfectly. I loved how the bass player portrayed so much personality without even using a mic. I think the screamer should have taken off his boxers though. If you're gonna strip, you can't hold anything back. - Sun, 10 Oct 2004 11:12am

I think hopesfall was probably my favorite band there. but moneen was the best act to watch for stage presence.. other then that alexisonfire is sooo good. and the singer jumped on me.. he was so sweaty.. it was gross.. ha ha.. too close for comfort. - Sun, 10 Oct 2004 4:08pm

that's right that's right I was there . . . nobody but Alexisonfire impressed me in the slightest. Everyone said Moneen was "so great", but I've never been so bored by a band in my entire life . . .

On that note, those goddamn asshole bouncers almost ruined my entire night. Talk about jackoffs. There was one prick who had a personal vendetta against me for no particular reason. The guy was giving me shit all night for sitting down and resting my head, especially during Moneen's (long) set; dispite the hoardes of others sitting down and kicking back. I guess my hair wasn't dyed black enough or my shirt tight enough. Ug . . I guess that's what happens at mainstream shows. - Sun, 10 Oct 2004 6:34pm

closet monster: they were really tight, but a bit too poppy for me.

hopesfall: never heard them before but they ripped. fun to watch. i really liked the 2-3 minuted jams they did before and after songs.

moneen: moneen is my favorite band, and their set took the cake for me. one of the best/funnest shows ive ever seen. they were so freaking amazing to watch and listen to, it's almost impossible to hear that somebody could be bored during their set.

alexisonfire: i saw them last time they were here and the sound was much better this time around. i was front row, and george did jump on me, so im really glad the boxers stayed on. good set, goddamn loud, my ears are still ringing, and i was impressed that george got the bottle to break on his head this time. goooood night! - Mon, 11 Oct 2004 3:33pm
