Wow, I have been owned. Got an advance copy from a friend and this album hauls. Forget your End's or Ion's or any number of DEP clones, these guys have topped 'em all with this album. They take their signature style and throw in a lot more hooks, some punky/Faith No Moreish riffs, and the singing is quite a lot more varied. Anyways, this album comes out July 20th. If you're a fan of this style or are looking for a little more variety (the word of the day), pick this one up when it drops. I promise you won't be disappointed. - Mon, 12 Jul 2004 2:23pm

You Victoria crowd really are a tight bunch. I was only going to say that KK's not so big or tough looking so we should thump him out for the advance freebie. Just for rubbing it in our faces. - Mon, 12 Jul 2004 7:10pm

Not tough? I've been dropkicked off a stage by Jesse from behind and didn't miss a note, so if you want to take a go at me feel free. Pain just makes me horny.

Upon listening to the whole thing in my car thouroughly, I've discorvered an emo song on this album. Skip past it, and all is well. - Mon, 12 Jul 2004 11:29pm

KK, I was just talking shit. I don't know many people who'd take a shot at you. Anyone who willingly takes that much from his bandmates could probably dish it out too. - Tue, 13 Jul 2004 10:56am

Due to a wonderful friend, I've got a burned advance of this disc. It's one of the best things ever. There are parts that are just as tech as Calculating Infinity, but this album goes far beyond that one... there are some quiet, creepy parts that sound more like Nine Inch Nails than DEP... there's even some piano on the album. And some singing. It's downright arousing. I can't figure out which track's supposed to be an emo song, though. - Tue, 13 Jul 2004 12:08pm

I think its the second to last track, #10. I just don't feel it. The Faith No More worship, however, is perfectly fine by me.

Why would anyone take a shot at me? I'm so nice. Now shut the fuck up, take off those shoes and get back in the kitchen, dammit. - Tue, 13 Jul 2004 4:06pm

Just got this album yesterday and BAM it was wicked. The new singer can really give 'er. He has a great singing voice as well as numerous different screams that added to the dynamics of the songs.
As for track 10, i see what you meen KK. although emo isn't the right word. I just didn't like it soo much.... seemed kinda out of place on the album.
Also, i was kind of saddened by the DVD as all the live footage kind of bites. If it looks good, it sounds bad, and if it looks bad, it sounds good. I understand that this is just a little suppliment with the album, but.... better video would have been nice.

Anyway, this album is very impressive, definatly on par with their other albums.

Track 5 (or 4 or 6...) is very NIN style which was kind of neat, and i could see the patton in a lot of the songs. - Thu, 22 Jul 2004 10:43am

Alrighty, first, I have to declare that, through some misunderstanding, I have never listened to DEP before now. I heard something about DEP being very soft and straight forward 4 chord 4/4 stuff.... There obviously must have been some confusion with another band, so when everyone kept telling me to check them out, I declined, thinking the description I was given was accurate. The other day, Gilles from Ghosts of Science put in the cd when I was in his studio. Needless to say, I went to pick up some DEP, and will be kept busy for a while. - Sat, 31 Jul 2004 2:41pm

Just saw 'em live in Toronto. Very good and very tight, even if I don't jerk off to their music. But the bands they had on tour with them were so fucking bad I wanted to cry.

The openers were ok actually. - Sun, 1 Aug 2004 10:36am
