Actually if you really want to get into it, there are not many "death metal" bands in Victoria. For the most part each band has their own unique sound. | The Other Nick User Info... | mostly in response to "libertine": the whole "death/black metal suck because i can't here what they're singing about sucks" comes up way too frequently. There are more aspects to music than the words someone is saying, and im not just talking about metal here. Vocals and singing (for me at least) are part of the "music" more than just a delivery of lyrics. Why do you think people all over the world who dont speak english (or speak it well) can enjoy american/english music? It still sounds good. Theres tons of examples of that, but im too lazy to write any more, but still bored enough to post. Thats not to say lyrics can't have an importance. I just usually only give a shit after i really get into a song, and with respect to a music scene, you usually only see bands play live, and thats not enough. I dont sit there during a set and scrutinize what someone is singing. If you actually do, i feel sorry for you. If you can't understand what's being said after that, chances are, you're mildly retarded or you're listening to grindcore or crust, and therefore, the vocalist is probably speaking in tongues.(for lack of a better discription) On that note, wonder why noone mocks Opera for not being able to understand a word, yet they mock metal for it all the time??? ... | Dr.DoomXXX User Info... | It seems to me that when people gripe and bitch about not being able to understand death metal lyrics it's 'cause they've spent their whole lives listening to Counting Crows or some dumb shit and have never learned to understand what's being said. I admit that there are some vocalists that are extremely difficult to understand ( like Lord Worm for example ) but they're still talented screamers and these days almost all CD's have lyrics listed in the booklets.
