U.S. Trucks Carrying Radioactive Materials Intercepted In Iraq-Kuwait Border

TEHRAN (MNA) - The UAE-based daily Al-Khaleej reported on Monday that Kuwaiti tariff officials have intercepted a truck loaded with radioactive materials in the Iraq-Kuwait border.

The daily quoted informed sources as saying that the radioactive control team from Kuwaits Health Ministry discovered that one of the trucks belonging to the U.S.-led coalition forces was carrying heavy radioactive materials trucks. The trucks were headed for Iraq.

The daily said that such materials could only enter a country when there is permission from related bodies while the materials were secretly being carried to Iraq.

Security forces stressed that no contamination had been caused by the material.

The MNA reported for the first time the coalition forces suspicious transfer of WMD parts from Kuwait to Southern Iraq by trucks.

The possible presence of WMD in Iraq and its likely nuclear programs were the main U.S. pretext for attacking the country.

However, their failure to find weapons of mass destruction in the country and the continuing turmoil in Iraq questioned the legitimacy of the U.S. war against Iraq and their presence in the country. - Mon, 14 Jun 2004 4:57pm

So what if it's from Iran? Iran isn't the same place it was 20 years ago either.

Can't say I'm at all shocked though. Dubya's gotta pull something outta his ass to save face. - Thu, 17 Jun 2004 8:01am

Sorry man, but as much as I wish this article is true, you can't actually believe it. I searched around the internet and the only other website that corroborated the story was IndyMedia UK, which is hardly a source. If it was true, and there was any actual evidence, papers like the Guardian would have picked up on it by now. - Thu, 17 Jun 2004 6:05pm

Fred the dragon is right,
it's not my conservative bias
that makes me not believe this article,
but fox, the guardian, bbc etc have to
face up to some domestic criticism if
they want to maintain any credibility,
look at some of the other stuff coming
out of papers in Iran, it's pretty ridiculous,
and yeah the guardian would have been all over
that shit. - Thu, 17 Jun 2004 8:09pm
