The music is just not that interesting and it always has some cheesy ideals about it that you'd hear coming from a kid who shops at Randy River and wears shirts like "You Laugh At Me Because I'm Different, I Laugh At You Because You Are All The Same". To me the whole genre just reeks of junior high mentality... Mind you, not to say anything bad about the genre that I love...but death/black metal can be pretty dorky sometimes. | Chris Brown User Info... | Now here is what I love about nu-metal, lets take the simpler Slayer/Pantera/Metallica riffs, BUT instead of layering the music with a second guitar or doing anything interesting at all lets just play it really loud through a Mesa Boogie/ Line 6 under a nice crystal clear production!! Do you really think anyone will reminince about the days of Linkin Park or Papa Roach and the like?? What really irks me about these groups is that they try to do what the gods of metal do like Slayer , Megadeth etc but all they manage to do is suck the life right out of what these groups were doing. Slayer on the other hand put out a couple albums that were all right and the rest ruled. Granted, Bonded By Blood changed my musical tastes forever and after that Exodus fell off the edge of the music world. Nu-metal is a whole different thing it's hard to even judge it cause my musical tastes are so far away from that, that it just sounds like a bunch of garbage to me but who am I to judge somebody elses tastes. Another thing, the only classified "nu-metal" band that really has had any influence on me is the deftones, and i consider them not a metal band at all (i find them more just an heavy alternitive rock band).
