Friday May 7th @ Lucky Bar - METAL!!

- Meatlocker Seven
- Cyanotic
- Soulscar (Galy Records)

$7.00 doors @ 9ish

Cyanotic are a heavy thrash based band who were previously known as G.R.A.V.E.L.

From BWBK Magazine:

"Contributing to what eventually may be known as the Vancouver sound, Cyanotic join the line behind Devin Townsend/Strapping Young Lad and Andrew Staehling/Soulscar. Explosive rage turns into melodic calm with plenty of crunch and rumble all around. Strength in songwriting and dynamic is plain as day. The salient variance amongst the 14 songs is further proof of obvious talent and tenacity. Not at all surprising that Move and Waiting For A Martyr are being played during Xtra Loud on 104.9 XFM in British Columbia. Untold effort has been put into this album, not to mention a joyous poke at 80s metal in Whiskey Corvette and a hilarious lounge mockery Input 3.1...8/10"

Soulscar are a Galy Records band ( http://www.galyrecords.com ) , melodic death metal, very Swedish sounding with lots of leads and technical riffing. Lots of great reviews out there of this up and coming band, or check out their website http://www.soulscar.com for audio.

From Unrestrained! Mag:

SOULSCAR - Character Assassination (Galy)
Man, it has been a long time coming, but the long wait has been worth it. Over the last couple of years I have been lucky to have been in contact with Vancouver thrash/death/heavy metal act Soulscar and watched them grow from their infant demo stages to full-length debut release. Their album, 'Character Assassination' is nothing short of brilliant! Awesome production, amazing arrangements and a really solid flow of ideas makes this album shine like very few indie albums have over the years. Songs like "The Voyeur" and "Living Nightmare" add some variety and class to their aggressive drive, while songs like the destructive "Relentless," "Fatalist Mantra" and the intense title track showcase the band's nod to old school metal like Megadeth, Testament and Carcass. If you like your music fast, tight and technical, Soulscar is your poison. Easily one of the best bands - if not the best band - that Canada has to offer right now. This band is going places whether a label signs them now or a year from now!

Listening to "Nine" from the Corrode CD, wow things have changed with the second album :) (I actually bought Corrode, glad I did cause it's out of print isn't it?) - Fri, 7 May 2004 10:43am

Out of print for now. Won't be back in print until we remix and remaster it...one day in the distant future. We have 500 unused covers for it sitting at the presser's.
Speaking of remixing and remastering and jerks, we'll probably cut all of Aaron's vocals out when we do this. The whole point of redoing a cd is to improve it and that won't happen unless all that girlish shrieking is removed.
I won't argue over the jerk point. It was the only way I could relate to you, Cluck. - Fri, 7 May 2004 11:27am

Actually Hell, it sounds really tinny (high ends) with the drum track sounding dull. So it should be dead easy to fix. I can't make comments about the vocals, perhaps you could improve them. Ah fuck it, just re-do all the songs for the new album (you guys remade Ground Level Sleep for BMoH) :) 500 unused covers?!? Mmmmm... plaster them on a wall and take a photo of it (the altar of ML7!!!!) - Fri, 7 May 2004 4:18pm

Grip, cant improve those vocals. Its like trying to make the sky more blue or Mr Hell's wiener more small.... It just simply cant be done..... - Sat, 8 May 2004 12:28am

The impossibilty of improvement calls for replacement. I found an injured raccoon who can fill the void.
Why make it smaller? I guess it's lonely for you at the bottom and you just want some company. I won't be shrinking down to your level, old buddy. - Sun, 9 May 2004 10:22am
