The Victoria BC Ska Society needs your help to decide who will get on a slot with the Kiltlifters, General Rudie and the Debonaires. Both bands are awesome but we may not be able to get both =(

We have been talking it over and over again and again but still no resolve. There are other opinion polls being done in person throughout Victoria, the rest of the Island, Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

Please vote. Giving reasoning with your decision is also great! We'll take the tally and then have a decision by next week.

Hey Everyone,

We only have a few days left before the poll is closed. Although there haven't been any responses on this particular message board we have been gathering your input via phone calls, in person and through e-mail. Thank you for your responses thus far. We'll be able to tell you by sometime next week. Either band is gonna kick ass so it's win win either way. Still if you can feel free to post your response on this message board. - Sat, 10 Apr 2004 9:30pm

Hey everyone,

Well the poll has finally come to a close. There were a lot of people torn between the two bands. Everyone we spoke to that checked out both bands liked both. Our decision has come and we are proud to announce the confirmation of none other than WESTBOUND TRAIN (Boston, U.S.A).

While there was good response for See Spot, after discussing things with them it turned out that their line-up would have been comprised considerably by having to replace the drummer, a horn player and one other member. In addition it would have been a strain for them to come up as they have a show scheduled in a location much closer to their home shortly after the gig they were hoping to do here on Thursday, July 15th/2004. See Spot will most likely be coming up to Victoria after Victoria's 5th Anniversary Ska Festival.

The great news is Westbound Train will be able to present a full fresh line-up with all of their guys ready to go and rip it up!

The band was also recently notified that they have been chosen to open for Hepcat, one of their biggest musical influences, at the Irving Plaza in NYC and at the Trocadero in Philadelphia on US Labor day weekend of 2004. (May 29,30).

They will also be going into the studio to record a brand new album with "The Gang of 2" Nate Albert(Bosstones) and Matt Ellard(Bosstones to Dr. Dre and anyone else you can think of).

We will soon have MP3s on the Victoria Ska Festival web site for WESTBOUND TRAIN. More information on the band will be posted on the Confirmation Thread for Victoria's 5th Anniversary Ska Festival on this message board. You can always check out http://www.westboundsound.com

So now you've got the following on one bill:

WESTBOUND TRAIN (Boston, U.S.A)
THE DEBONAIRES (LA, U.S.A)
GENERAL RUDIE (Montreal, Canada)
THE KILTLIFTERS (Nanaimo, Canada)

And to think that's just the Kick-off show!! We've got so much more to announce and to be excited about! Stayed tuned for more info shortly... - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 8:24pm
