Well done Chuck. Great mix of music made for a great show! Tough as Nails fuckin rules. Put on the best show ive seen in a long time with a tough NYC Hardcore sound. I was pretty stoked to hear a band like this from Vic. I want a CD. Jerry stole my beer though....haha ok we know thats not true. Gallows End played but that is my band so Ill just say it was cool to finally play in my hometown. It was good to see Tony G. ("Fuck Peace") again after all these years and Noel too. Even the dudes from Meatlocker Seven and Adrian from Seasons of Sorrow showed up for support! Shortfall got up and played a strong set of sk8core. But this was sk8core with big ass teeth. I will see them play again for sure. I went outside for a...uh...soda pop ;) and then came back in to see a huge circle mosh for Yeknob. And even though these guys dont have the dashing good looks of Gallows End, the crowd fucking loved these guys. And no they werent too drunk to play. If you didnt go to this show the you really missed out. Check out Shortfall and Tough as Nails at the Teahouse Saturday Dec 14th with Dissent (from Van) and Lythic Blue!!!! - Sun, 1 Dec 2002 2:15am
fark well i have to say one thing POOP! tough as nails werent my thing....gallows end were pretty freakin cool, great guitar work in that band wasent feelin the vocals too much i dont like that screachy type of scream. shortfall were the reason i went there cool guys and there rad skate punk fuckin rights. i only stayed for about 2 minutes of yeknob i dont like hearing three chords played as fast as humanly possible with two guys yelling into a microphone some people do, good for them. - Sun, 1 Dec 2002 1:21pm

Jesse yeah, it was a fairly good show, Good turnout. The place sounds horrible though, Maybe just cause of lack of a decent PA. Gallows End played well though, Its kickass to see other metal bands coming up. Shortfall were alot better last time I saw them, Maybe cause I was alot drunker... Who knows. I got to see the band I wanted to see, so i guess Im happy - Sun, 1 Dec 2002 2:39pm
Sparkles Decent Show but just about the shittyist hall (rec. room) to play in Vic. Hard to get a good idea about how good the bands are when all you hear is the fucking buzz sound echoing from the walls. Have to say Gallows end was my favorite of the night, but I'm more into metal than punk. Amazing musicanship. Tough as Nails bit but only because of the hall. they seemed like intense performers but i just couldn't hear them. Shortfall was decent (once again, not a huge punk fan) and I left right before Yeknob. Anyway, cheers to all the bands. - Sun, 1 Dec 2002 3:43pm

Fuck yeah; Jesse I can't believe I didn't catch you there.....'cause I was probably the only non-drunk one at the show!!! Anyways, Gallow's End ruled as usual...but my old buddies from town and myself came from Nanaimo to check it out, and we got what we wanted. Good ol', in your face melodic, partially-blues-influenced, swedish style death metal. What more could a metalhead want on his plate?! Matt's a fuckin' piece of work; he couldn't stop flipping his lid about the sound production of the place afterward which led to some interesting trials and tribulations after the show...but, yeah, our band is the same way about sound quality so whatever. Fuckin' guitarists. Nothing's ever good enough. Anyways, it was worth the venture, so even if some kiddie punk bands are present, go catch Gallow's Fucking End!!!!! - Sun, 1 Dec 2002 5:11pm

I could hear everything....just cant hear now! Shortfalls drummer needs some more sticks. It was great when he had to get up to grab his stick. People helped out after. He made some amazing mid air snags of lost sticks throughout the set though!!!! haha. The drummer of Tough as Nails barely broke a sweat. Crazy drumming but he looked all casual about it. Must have sold his soul to the devil for that ability. I broke a sweat just watching. - Sun, 1 Dec 2002 5:35pm
Jesse A good thing to do when playing in halls w/o good soundgear is to put the amps behind the drums so the drummer can at least hear what the guitars and bass are doing, and you get less feedback without turning down your gain. And if you only have one vocalist throw the other mic in the kickdrum. doesnt really sound better but at least you can hear each other and play in time. - Sun, 1 Dec 2002 6:54pm

What a wicked night, finally got to see Gallows End, you guys had a good set. That was really too bad about the sound though, that was my first time in there for a while, I forgot how bad it can e at times. You have to play a show at Soundgarden sometime.
Wow, the little mosh pit that got going was hilarious, one of the better pits I've seen in Victoria for some time. Cheers and beers to everyone who played, and Justin and Yeknob for having the people over after the show. Did anyone else see that chick freaking out in the girls bathroom? She was just rightly fucked up.
I wonder if Myka remembers singing the YODA song with me?

Ohhh my yoda, y-o-d-a yoda...yoyoyoyo yoda!!! - Sun, 1 Dec 2002 8:33pm
H hey denise, was the chick wearing a white dress? if so, that's one crazy bitch - Sun, 1 Dec 2002 10:02pm

H yeah, that's my buddy's ex-girlfriend. She's almost as fucked up as him, and he's literaly insane. Tooooo much acid between the two of them - Sun, 1 Dec 2002 11:37pm
buddy yah the show was rad , i not realy into metal but gallows end were great . yeknob was definatly the best band there in my oppion , they suck so much it makes them kick ass . too bad they didn't play longer . did anyone else see those stupid homey kids ?? that made me laugh , one of them went to the same school as me last year he used hassle my freind all time because he wore black nail polish. but anyway shortfall was kinda lame and tuff as nails weren't too bad , much better than pr 23 were good drumming though . - Mon, 2 Dec 2002 12:31am
Matt D. Rad show by all. I think one of those "homey" kids was the one who started throwing punches in the pit when Yeknob played. That guy chewed on too many lead paint chips as a child. I later learned his name was "D-Style." All I have is pity. - Mon, 2 Dec 2002 1:11am

Ganglionectomous Gastroenteritis Well, I thought all the bands were cool, especially Gallows End. Except their singer. He was especially flambouyant. You could tell the big tough guitar player was keeping him in line throughout the show with his Gallow Glare, and scaring him fom acting to gay in front of the children. All in all though, not bad, and he can at least scream like a woman! - Mon, 2 Dec 2002 2:00pm

Came and saw Gallows End. Couldn't tell too much from the terrible sound in that place. Unfortunately had a hard time hearing Aaron speak and vocalize. The set was mostly tight and sparked a great mosh like you only see at all ages shows.
The fuck ups came from the terrible sound in that damn room. We need more all ages venues in Vic dammit!!! Back when we played Pandora a few years ago it was the same deal. I find it difficult to charge admission to a show where the band is feedbacked and fuzzed out the whole time. But we make do with what we have. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to check out the other bands. Maybe next time.
I have heard GE in the jam spot and think they will rise to the top of the pile soon enough!
This was basically a negative review of the venue and had not much to do with the bands, but it's all part of the show. - Mon, 2 Dec 2002 8:30pm
