Bryan User Info... | In my opinion, the pinnacle of the black metal genre. All those black metal bands with intentionally shitty production for the sake of "atmosphere" desperately wish that they could duplicate the sound Ulver created on this album, but I'm pretty sure nobody ever will. I can only dream of one day being able to make the black metal shriek sound as fierce and passionate as Garm does on here. - Thu, 15 Feb 2007 12:29am
jeff User Info... | this is only of the only BM albums i really really really enjoy to listen too such awsome songs and sikk guitar work - Sun, 18 Feb 2007 3:46pm
Lord Darkith User Info... | If you want to check out unique black metal similiar to the innovation Ulver brought check out these titles. Satyricon - Dark Medieval Times Dimmu Borgir - Stormblast Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse Nokturnal Mortum - Lunar Poetry - Sun, 18 Feb 2007 4:00pm
jeff User Info... | thanks for the tip because ive never heard of any of those bands before ever never ever (sarcasm just in case you didnt notice) - Sun, 18 Feb 2007 4:52pm
Bryan User Info... | I'd love to hear more Ulver-esque BM though... Dark Medieval Times is of course a total classic, and lately I've been pretty impressed with Taake, Wolves in the Throne Room, early Borknagar (who are admittedly pretty obvious given Garm's mutual membership) and of course Victoria's own Asane... but beyond that I don't really know many comparable bands. - Sun, 18 Feb 2007 9:50pm
The Other Nick User Info... | Blut Aus Nord - Fathers Of The Icy Age - Mon, 19 Feb 2007 8:36pm
Lord Darkith User Info... | You may have 'heard' of those bands but maybe you should actually give those titles a listen instead of whining about someone trying to recommend some Black Metal (you'd really really enjoy listening to). I doubt youve heard Dark Medieval Times or Lunar Poetry. - Tue, 20 Feb 2007 7:18pm
jeff User Info... | ive probably heard Dark Medieval Times and lunar poetry at some point in my life. im not whining, your just trying to sound smart but in reality you've probably heard less shit then me. AND NO IM NOT TRYING TO BE ELITIST im not like that at all. but i know so many people that are obsessed about BM that ive probably heard a lot more then you. no i dont think im better then you at all im just saying dont assume things - Tue, 20 Feb 2007 8:54pm Edited: Tue, 20 Feb 2007 9:04pm
Lord Darkith User Info... | Where did I say that I am teh black metal elite tr00 kvlt satan worshipper, I didnt. I simply was wondering what was wrong with recommending you some other unique black metal since you made it seem as though you havent heard enough great black metal to get into it. - Tue, 20 Feb 2007 9:26pm
Swingin' Joe User Info... | Hey, lets all compare dinks on here boys! - Tue, 20 Feb 2007 9:27pm
jeff User Info... | "Hey, lets all compare dinks on here boys!" i bet you would like that swingin' joe - Wed, 21 Feb 2007 7:37am
Bryan User Info... | Alright, I'm glad we've managed to turn yet another thread into a stupid flame war. Jeff, you're hardly one to be breaking out into black metal elitism. Who gives a fuck if the kid hasn't heard many obscure bands? I was once at the point where I just worshipped Ulver, Emperor and Satyricon without really bothering with the rest of the genre, and it's not like your knowledge of the genre really extends beyond its core bands at all. I mean I don't give a fuck how much you know about black metal, I just don't think that you should be ridiculing someone who probably knows about the same amount as you over not knowing any obscure bands. PS - Remember like a month ago when I mentioned Nokturnal Mortum and you said you weren't familliar with them? Not so kvlt now, are we? - Wed, 21 Feb 2007 1:52pm Edited: Wed, 21 Feb 2007 1:56pm
Swingin' Joe User Info... | "i bet you would like that swingin' joe" Holy shit, you're right! Me first!! - Wed, 21 Feb 2007 4:12pm

Lord Darkith User Info... | Are you reffering to the nihilist black metal reviews http://www.anus.com/metal/ (Dark Legions)? - Wed, 21 Feb 2007 10:25pm
jeff User Info... | no im talking about the black legions in france its basicly a bunch of bands(Mütiilation, Vlad Tepes and Belketre just to name a few) with really bad production and lived in there dads basement - Wed, 21 Feb 2007 10:27pm Edited: Wed, 21 Feb 2007 10:30pm
Lord Darkith User Info... | Sounds kvlt. - Wed, 21 Feb 2007 10:29pm
jeff User Info... | almost as kvlt as me - Wed, 21 Feb 2007 10:30pm
Bryan User Info... | I pointed that out only because "OMG U ONLY KNO EMPEROR SATYRICON AND DIMMU BORGIR U FAG" is more the kind of response I would expect from some kind of obnoxious black metal fanboy than from you... And I pointed out Nokturnal Mortum because depsite your accusastions that all the bands he mentioned are really obvious, I knew for a fact that you didn't even know one of them. Anyway, Ulver are pretty good aren't they? - Wed, 21 Feb 2007 11:11pm
jeff User Info... | Satyricon - Dark Medieval Times Dimmu Borgir - Stormblast Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse Nokturnal Mortum - Lunar Poetry out of those 4 ive heard 3, the only i havent heard is Nokturnal Mortum ulver rules mostly because of the xmas track on there new record - Wed, 21 Feb 2007 11:21pm Edited: Wed, 21 Feb 2007 11:22pm
Bryan User Info... | If more x-mas music sounded like that track I would probably enjoy it considerably more as a holiday. - Thu, 22 Feb 2007 10:51am
kaos User Info... | one of my favorite releases from ulver. some real good riffs and the production suits them well for this release. good music for chilling. - Thu, 22 Feb 2007 8:08pm
