Alien has become a tricky album to remove from my stereo. I can't seem to get enough of the chaotic and endlessly layered music on this cd. Hevy Devy's meticulous production is unmistakeable for anything less than stellar. The flow of one song into the next is seemless and smooth. Once again SYL open the album with a brief intro which tears right into the first song on the record. The combination of 'Skeksis' and 'Imperial' bring back memories of 'Velvet Kervorkian' and 'All Hail the New Flesh' from the classic City. The ever present groove that permeates from within this chaos is blatant in the catchy question of 'Love?' Strapping, or maybe in this case Devy, switches gears in the daydream called 'Two Weeks'. The song 'Two Weeks' is a mellow acoustic song which seems as if it leaked from a Devin Townsend Band album. From the multilayered beginning to the chaotic and head scratching end, 'Info Dump, Alien is a very good example of the method to Hevy Devy's madness. - Fri, 10 Jun 2005 6:12pm

Fucking unreal album!
My personal favorite SYL album. I can't comprehend why some people don't enjoy it. Maybe it's just too much? - Fri, 17 Jun 2005 3:32pm

I think the reason people don't enjoy SYL is because he's putting too many things into the songs, so the brain has a harder time processing the audio. At least, this has always been the reason why I didn't like SYL. - Fri, 17 Jun 2005 10:42pm

Hevy Devy is an insanely good producer, and I like SYL because there seems to be so much going on. It can take an astute listener a few listens before they can hear what is going on. I hope SYL never changes there multilayered approach. From their track record, I doubt they will. - Fri, 17 Jun 2005 10:44pm
