The Other Nick User Info... | This is the touring keyboard player for Emperor's own project. Sound like a cross between Dimmu Borgir and new Emperor. If you liked Emperor's last album, Prometheus, and want to hear someone else try that style of blackish metal, you'd probably not mind giving this a listen. If you don't fit into said category, avoid this album. 7 tracks plus an Intro. One really good song, the rest are meh. I found the good song on http://www.blackmetalradio.com. - Mon, 5 Jul 2004 6:31pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | stupid. - Mon, 5 Jul 2004 7:13pm
Mutilashawn User Info... | Emperor = cool. Have you seen Ihsahn's new project with his beastly wife??? He's all decked out in frilly pirateish shirts and lameo old clothing, I wept for him when I saw this. OH well, I have still yet to hear it. Probably half decent because, fuck, it's Ihsahn! - Tue, 6 Jul 2004 8:31am
Nik Olaz User Info... | emperor is cool their touring Keyboardest is not - Tue, 6 Jul 2004 12:20pm

canon.docre User Info... | I really liked Tartaros - The Grand Psychotic Castle. That guy can write some interesting keyboard, he seems (in tGPC) to write stuff that doesn't repeat itself over and over. Has anyone heard Diabolis Rising? That is some fucking weird ass experimental keyboard-heavy blackmetal. Members from Impaled Nazarene and .. I don't remember who else. - Sat, 10 Jul 2004 3:01pm
Hagberg User Info... | Tartaros "The Grand Psychotic Castle" was a pretty good release actually, considering it sounded like a spooky soundtrack to old Scooby Doo episodes. Actually, the label Necropolis Records put out awesome stuff back in the day: Arckanum, Helheim, War, Niden Div. 187, etc...whay did that label suddenly become so pathetic? - Mon, 12 Jul 2004 12:32pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | Necropolis went belly up recently... - Mon, 12 Jul 2004 4:36pm
Starry_Wisdom User Info... | I enjoyed that album The Red Jewel, thought it was better than Emperor's output after "Anthems...". - Tue, 13 Jul 2004 10:43pm
The Other Nick User Info... | when i posted this, i wasnt expecting anyone else would have heard of this band. Is it just one man, "grimloch" or whatever, and he gets session musicians, or is there a whole band? I put money on drums by Trym, and guestwork by Ishan and Samoth. - Wed, 14 Jul 2004 3:41pm
Hagberg User Info... | Yeah, Charmad (?) Grimloch...I personally really like that guy's keyboard work. I haven't heard much of his session work with Emperor, but he does keyboards on the Emperor cover of Mercyful Fate's "Gypsy", which is nothing short of amazing! - Wed, 14 Jul 2004 4:34pm
The Other Nick User Info... | The only reason i know that mr. grimloch was involved with emperor is he's playing keyboards on the "emperor live in london" (or whatever) video, and they show everyones name. I wasnt aware that he had any other involvement in emperor other than playing keyboards live that one time. By the way, how old is Tartaros? - Thu, 15 Jul 2004 8:16am
J. Peatman User Info... | Jeez, this album has been out for years! "The Grand Psychotic Castle" is better in my opinion. Hagberg is right hehe. I recommend that if you like The Red Jewel. To me TRJ doesn't have the same feeling, it's too extreme for Tartaros I think. TGPC has the most haunting keyboards I've ever heard. I think I'll go and watch some old Bela Lugosi movie now! Tartaros has been around since 1993, besides the aforementioned albums there's a demo called Heritage of the Past. The music is more epic (old Enslaved, old Limbonic Art), but great, despite the pretty underground production. There's also his horror/Tim Burton score project called The Thrill, a release was supposed to come out in 2000 or so but I don't think anything ever really got together. If you're into Tartaros you might like Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors, or their older stuff. What a brilliant band. - Sun, 18 Jul 2004 6:02pm
