Neil User Info... | Anata Under a stone with no inscription Take note, this is Standard Death Metal, so you pretty much know what youre getting into right away, but realize as well that this is like nothing youve ever heard previous. From the first explosion of notes, one realizes this is not going to be standard fare. Immediately the listener is bombarded with a production that is not at all traditional in tone or execution, but attacks with a clarity and aggressiveness unheard before. I cannot stress enough how the unorthedox production helps this album out. Having said that, I do not wish to take anything away from the musicians. The guitars and bass are extravagantly technical, fast and riffy. The drums, well, they strain my colorful adjective abilty too far to even bother describing them. Ill just tell you the story. When I got the disc, which was taking a big chance as Id never even heard of such a band before, I looked at the thanks list and noticed that the drummer listed his influences. Naming people like Wekle, Mournier, Reineart and Culross made me expect a lot of this drummer before I even slipped the disc in. Let me tell you he does not disappoint; crazy fast technical drumming that competes with 3 of his named influences and nuances (yes, nuance in deathmetal drumming) that do justice to the other. Im finding it difficult sitting here at work, writing about this album and not being able to listen to it. Well, only 40 minutes left - Mon, 8 Mar 2004 11:01am | ||
