| Brandon User Info... | Come check out the Delegates hailing from Montreal. At first glance, taking two loud Canadians, two lazy Americans, a neurotic Egyptian and a smooth-talking Costa Rican, then adding two trombones, two thrashing guitars, a whole lot of yelling, and mixing thoroughly with a cup of rock, a pinch of island spice and 24 Canadian Beers would seem like a recipe for failure. Since forming in Montreal in 1999, The Delegates have proved that this is only mostly true. Still, it�s their three-ring-circus of a live show and their have-fun-at-all-costs attitude that has won them a devout following and the ability to captivate new audiences both large and small. Their first independent full-length album, entitled The Incomplete Guide to Fitting In (Independent, 2000), was an explosive mix of punk, ska, and nitroglycerine. After some local and regional successes, and a trip to the studio in 2001 to record a two-song demo, The Delegates headed to Los Angeles in December 2002 to record a new full-length album with engineer and producer Mike Trujillo (Osker, Choking Victim, Leftover Crack, Union 13). This newest recording, We All Taste the Same (Independent, 2003), represents the evolution of band�s sound that combines punk rock with intricate horn lines and driving reggae inspired rhythms. Despite favourable comparisons to the group�s influences - Montreal Shows magazine described the music as "good mid-tempo melodic pop punk not so far from Rancid, Operation Ivy and NOFX" - The Delegates have established a unique sound that has moved away from traditional ska-core. Nelson of Rien � D�clarer zine wrote: "The Delegates� unique and consistent sound is a pleasure to the ears and makes you want to listen again and again." The album, released in September, has been picked up for Canadian distribution by FAB, and ranked 134th for airplay on Canadian campus and community radio stations in October 2003 http://www.thedelegates.org This show is going to be a blast, One Drop is back in full force with the return of The Hobo from Medicine Hat and the group is playing their first show in vic since nov 6th (which was played without the presence of the Westside Gringo and The Hobo) So come out and drink like the alchys everyone knows you are! - Wed, 17 Dec 2003 2:45pm | ||
