moron | In a coup of sorts I managed to fandangle my way into a spot on CBC Radio One to promote the Noise! Festival happening this Saturday, May 31 here in Victoria. For those who care or want to hear how goofy I sound in real life, you can hear the bit at 8:20 am on Friday, May 30 on 90.5 FM. Who would have guessed that deep inside CBC would lurk a fan of Throbbing Gristle? - Thu, 29 May 2003 4:34pm

Steve Weed | Way to go moRon!...missed it, but how did the festival go? CBC is actually surprisingly accessable these last few months... I actually worked for them for a few months doing little 2 minute entertainment editorials in 1998-99 that aired on CBC Newsworld a couple times a week, and I got fired because I referred to Alanis Morissette as "Anus Morissette". the irony is that they got as many letters giving me a thumbs-up as they did complaints. although I did get to do a few days worth of free recording at CBC Studio 210 after they installed that bright, shiny, fully automated, 2 million dollar Neve-Capricorn console. Still can't understand why they need such a workhorse for recording jazz bands though. - Tue, 3 Jun 2003 10:57am
flip was here | I heard it was "only" 850 grand. It's a nice board too, they need it to record all the classical stuff they do, even though they even stooped to do the Show Business Giants on it (and I nearly blew it sky high by playing my bass through a Rat pedal straight into the board!). CBC always seems to buy the very best, but they also use it 24/7, so I guess it's worth it. - Tue, 3 Jun 2003 12:45pm
