Donnie Black | I'm happy to say that me and my Zappnin-cats will be having a huge Canada Day celebration with the greatest Black Sabbath tribute band I've ever heard; The Void They're based out of Vancouver, and their setlist is amazing. If Sabbath is your thing, you know what ya gotta do. I've seen them do an impromptu 5 song set in Abotsford, and they ripped my face off. If you want to hear Sabbath to a tee, then don't miss these guys. We'll be going on first, and they'll be shortly afterwards. "An Evening Chalk Fulla Rock." I'm not sure of the cover charge yet, as it was just confirmed yesterday, but I know that it's gonna be a fuckin' gong show man... do it for your country baby! - Mon, 12 May 2003 12:51am
Wreaker of Havoc User Info... | Ah the one you were talking about. What better way to celebrate the birth of our Nation than with some Sabbath - Mon, 12 May 2003 2:14am
JB | Donnie, how'd the pyro thing go? Are you now able (by law) to blow shit up? Good to hear about the July 1st show, It's gonna be a blast!!! - Mon, 12 May 2003 8:39am
ML7Mike User Info... | Is this the Sabbath Tribute that Rick Lee ( ex armoros, black diamond ) is in? - Mon, 12 May 2003 1:05pm
Donnie Black | Yes the Sabbath-thing is with Rick Lee. Also has Kelly Nordstrom of Speed to Kill, my buddy Clarke on drums (amazing f**king drummer), and Chris Andres doin' Ozzy. As I said, they're absolutely amazing. It's gonna be a rock n' roll party alright, and I'm so happy to be involved. As for blowin' shit up JB, Tom and I receive our certification within the next couple of weeks. Once we get that, we'll be entitled to purchase the equipment, and the necessary powders. As for bringing it to our shows, it depends on the venue's insurance policies. If they're not insured for that kind of activity, then we have to insure ourselves... which ain't cheap. Plus, there are other measures that we have to take and get permission for. It was a great course. Canadians are so more together than the Americans when it comes to the legalities and technicalities for doing pyrotechnics. They are now looking to us on how they should do things.... now that one of them killed 100 of their own. An interesting story was told while we were there: The exact same thing that happened in Rhode Island happened in Toronto shortly afterwards. But, the band knew to have fire extinguishers nearby. Common sense is always a necessary thing. We know that over half the shit we're legally able to do now, couldn't be done in a bar like Legends... ceilings are way to low. - Mon, 12 May 2003 11:50pm
