moron User Info... | Just in case this causes anyone confusion, when these folks say "industrial" they mean "EBM". If you show up expecting to hear actual industrial music you will no doubt be pretty disappointed. No slag against the night, I just hate seing retro EBM and goth stuff mis-represented as "industrial". Cheers, [email protected] http://industrial.org - Fri, 9 May 2003 7:58pm
Kyle User Info... | What does "EBM" mean? - Fri, 9 May 2003 11:58pm
DJ Caligari | No, I mean Industrial, I know what EBM is. Industrial like Skinny Puppy, Unit 187, Exorcist, Klute Wumpscut, Die Krupps, Sphan Ranch, Hate Department - Sat, 10 May 2003 3:17am
DJ Caligari | oh sorry Kyle, Electro Body Music - Sat, 10 May 2003 3:21am
moron User Info... | Like I said, no industrial music to be found. Skinny Puppy is the defintion really of EBM, the rest vary between coldwave (and Unit 187 are a shitty rock band) and goth influenced techno. Rule of thumb - if it is on Metropolis it is not industrial (and almost for sure sucks). Only exception I can think of is the Sonar disc they put out a few years ago which was a complete anomaly (probably thought people were expecting some more Dive synth poppish stuff). Industrial music would mostly start of course with old school stuff like Throbbing Gristle (not Psychic TV) and "Information Overload Unit" era S.P.K. (not the later disco stuff) and lead itself up into more recent acts like The Grey Wolves, Control, Survival Unit, Seda E Marg, Rosemary Malign and the Eugenics Council, etc. (to pick some random acts off of the top of my head). You could even get away with including Ant-Zen stuff like Converter since there is still a strong noise element but industrial is not equivalent to dance music. There is industrial music you can dance to of course but the two are not the same thing. If you play some Brighter Death Now and Atrax Morgue at your event then I'll stop bitching about you calling it "industrial". =) Cheers - Sat, 10 May 2003 3:35am
