The 9th Annual Uno Festival Presents I WILL MAKE YOU ORPHANS Saturday May 27, 8:00 PM Metro Theatre - 1411 Quadra (at Johnson) Written and Performed by Sean Christopher Lewis (Iowa City, USA) Directed by Matt Slaybaugh Drama – 60 minutes Tickets $18 / $15 Students and Seniors “Lewis's writing uses Hip Hop rhyming effortlessly” (City Beat, Cincinnati) I Will Make You Orphans is the story of Sean Boogie - a confused white boy in upstate New York who believes he's "blacker" than his African American poetry professor. When his girlfriend becomes pregnant and his teacher questions his reality, Boogie is left questioning not only who he is but who he wants to be. A hip-hopera, a ghetto comedy, and a social drama, Orphans is a genre-bending experience about what it is to 'be' and what it is to 'wannabe.' Lewis is in the MFA program of the renowned Iowa Playwrights' Workshop. He has performed in over 25 professional productions in the US, including off-Broadway at the Pearl Theatre Company, off-off-Broadway at LaMaMa ETC, and at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, and is an award-winning playwright.
