Brand X Media User Info... | http://www.brandxmedia.ca is proud to present It's 1st annual fundraiser featuring local artwork by Erik Volet and Jesse Ladret. Musical Guests include: --------------------- The Doers --------------------- Hailing from Vancouver, The Doers are an acoustic, three-piece-folk-punk-soft-math-rock band with a pleasant smell and a firm handshake. Formed from 3/4 of the surviving members of Vancouver legends STATIONa, a band that recorded three LPs and was notorious for providing a wall of sound; often leaving its audience stramming for more or in an ambulence. In contrast to their roots, the Doers have managed to capture the intensity of STATIONa but with a portion of the volume, minus one member and far less gear. Having recently completed a double EP/LP entitled "Ready, Set...Do/I Can Enjoy Almost Anything" recorded at Rec-age Recorders that featured Sean Maxey on guitar/vocals, Barry Higginson on bass, Jeff Sebastian on drums and Kathy Dube (also of The Cinch) on vocals, the Doers formulated a beautiful, aggressive, soothing, tantric record. The record also includes cameos from the likes of the legendary Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE) who played bass on a number of tracks. Other cameos include Joel Tong (Black Rice), Juli Steemson (Black Rice), Jesse Gander (DBS, Operation Makeout), and the infamous John Cow (Northland Lumber, Honeycow). ------------------ The Cape May --------------------- Hailing from Calgary Alberta The Cape May include ex-Trikl Act member Clinton. With their offering of great noisy, post-punk, they're sure to add an edge to any stage. --------------------- David Chenery & The Lonesome Valley Singers ---------------------- local folk singer/songwriter david chenery plays it SLOW N' SAD (tho sometimes loud and fast.) His death ballads are the cause of many suicide attemps and terrible bouts of drinking. Inspired by The Carter Family, Crystal Gayle and The Misfits. David Chenery with: bryce of the fine options, dwayne of the sensitones and Miss lily fawn (Jana Wessel) of blue pine, david p. smith & the whelps. Old - time country folk music .....and they're damn cute too ! --------------------- Plus More TBA!--------------------- $7 @ Logan's Pub http://brandxmedia.ca/posters/brand_x_media.jpg - Mon, 26 Jan 2004 9:30am
ENIGMATICA ENTERTAINMENT User Info... | I'm diggin' the fact that AROK and Jesse's art will be presented at the show although I will probably not be here when it happens. I think it would be cool to have more visual art and music mixed shows in Victoria. AROK's and Jesse's art is dope!!!! I've known this for quite some time. Jesse, it would be nice if you had a tag. It's cool when talented visual artists like you have tags:) We should make one up for you. Tag names are dope. BTW: Who is planning the next Urban Art Exhibition 2004? Sper 27 of the IBC CREW is in Van City. It would be nice if someone wanted to plan a super duper dope Urban Art Exhibition with music and shit. - Mon, 26 Jan 2004 8:33pm
bigcityredneck User Info... | well.. Victoria certainly needs more taggers for the local scenery to dull its small-town cleanliness (ha) but I for one am going to be there - I loved the Minute Men and everything Mike Watt has done since (including the Doers last album) ruled. - Wed, 28 Jan 2004 7:38pm
