Mr. Hell User Info... | Just got back from Lucky Bar. Got there just in time to wish the Zappnin boys a good show. They took the stage and in classic Zappnin fashion rocked the house and entertained with utmost showmanship. Loren is a wizard behind the microphone and plays those drums like a controlled madman. Three part harmonies and tight music made for some great performance! Plus ending most songs with a classic arena finale is always a treat. While I really like Zappnin Black, I have to say that they are best when they are playing in the lower registers and shaking the room with their riffs. Their 2nd CD, Jesus Christ Supercross is the feature of the party they are holding at Steamers on Thursday, January 16th. I hear admission includes a free disc and maybe another surprise. Go check 'em out! That Black Sabbath Show. Well, Sabbath has always brought out the freak in people. And this tribute brings out the freaks in Victoria. There were a few that stuck out in my mind. Crouching Cougar, Hidden Herpes. Anyone at the show knows who this is. Older woman in front of the stage squatting down and swinging her arms around while doing some sort of heroin induced waltz and entertaining everyone to no end. At one point she turned around to head to the bar and walked straight into Bram's shoulder head first. The other was the ample cougar with the bleached 80's helmet hair. "I'm 50 and I know the band!" Um, hate to break it to you, but this isn't the real Black Sabbath. That Black Sabbath Show is quite entertaining. Crazy Clark does a great job as Bill Ward while adding that extra Clark Sparkle to the music. Throwing away the sticks and playing entire songs with his fists. Great drum solo! Standing up while playing. Tricks with spinning drumsticks. Excellent stuff. Tony Iommi was quite good. Staying true to the original material and adding modern twists where it was tasteful. Great work with the wah pedal! Geezer Butler. I could have sworn it was ML7 Tony in 10 years after a long bout with hard drugs. He looked confused before each note he was about to play. Didn't play Geezer's lines close enough for my liking and simplified too much. Oh, and wicked boots! Unfortunate that Rick Lee stepped down before this show. I was looking forward to seeing him rip it up. The guy playing Ozzy had the nuances of the OzzMan but didn't always hit the notes in the traditional ways. He didn't look like Ozzy at all, which was a bit of a letdown because the other guys made an attempt to get the appearance similar to the original. You need a white tassled jumpsuit and to get rid of the lyric sheets, Ozzy. Seal clapping and jumping up and down are mandatory. Great song selection. Overall, I'd go see them again. Kudos to Lucky Bar for doing this show the night before New Year's Eve. You guys got guts! Yeah, this is a long review, but I am sober and the reviews on here lately have been slack at best. So fuck yourselves. - Tue, 30 Dec 2003 11:44pm

Mr. Hell User Info... | You ARE doing the shirts then. You guys are nuts! Yeah, I forgot about the teleprompters. I guess I can let that slide then. The great thing about those guys is the set a mood that is close to the dark ambiance that the real Sabbath have when on stage. Most of that stems from Clark. - Wed, 31 Dec 2003 2:10pm
