Justin H. User Info... | So the line up for this show was pretty good. I mean, its better than a lot of the other line up's I've been in in the last while. So the highlights in the line up were definatly seeing the Staaf's walking to and from their vehicle, which was right outside the venue. I saw other people carrying gear, but I didn't know what bands they played in. A lot of people wondered whether or not they'd be getting in, but it didn't seem promising. I didn't have the patience to stay in the line up all night, so I left at around 11:00. Overall though, a pretty damn good line up. - Fri, 12 Dec 2003 11:47pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | That sounded like a sweet line up. My fave was a few weeks back the line up for the AWT show there on Strange and Old's b-day. There was aggro, drinking, Bonehead, you name it. The tunes sounded pretty damn good through the door everytime someone opened it that is. Yes, certainly a sweet, sweet line up, as line ups go. Ended up getting sick from that one. Oh happy day.... - Sat, 13 Dec 2003 8:04am

ML7Mike User Info... | I got in. I waited. About 10 minutes before Staaf started playing a bunch of people started leaving and everyone in line got in just in time. So. What can I say? I hate reviewing shows, but Staaf Only were great. My only complaints are that their set was horribly short and that they didnt play Leviathan. Other than that they kicked alot of ass. Shades of D. Townsend in Gerod's stage precence and delivery. A very intense mix of speed metal rockabilly and intense soloing with extreme vocals, extreme as in I swear there were 10 different demons coming out of Gerod's throat all at once! Definately a very good show but I had hoped Gerod would use his clean style a little more in depth. Its like the whole band were holding back on purpose to leave us wanting more. Dammit! Oh ya, and the fact that the bar was closing. Joey Ramone made an appearance. Staaf Only have a great banner! - Sat, 13 Dec 2003 12:43pm
Inktvis User Info... | That was one hell of a line up. I ended up talking to the owner and wondered why he didn't tell us anything, or give us an update on the situation. I think he enjoyed keeping people waiting. I think it somewhat turned into a social status sort of thing, as we saw him bring certain people around back. He proceeded to call me ma'am and said he couldn't do anything about it. A few minutes later he started bringing people in. Eventually we got in, but it was a long wait and finally got to see the Staaf's. Went to see them in the summer in Fernwood, but that show didn't work out so I'm glad this one did. Although it was a short set, it was worth to see, there won't be very many opportunities to see them perform in the future - as they are moving! Excellent props, lighting, banner... and not to mention the music! Great versions of the Ramones songs and the best part was their own material. There was alot of soloing, but it was a nice sight to see since you hear so much about Gerod, but its rare to see him perform. He's quite the personality and I have a feeling we'll hear more about them down the road. I'm totally impressed and Gerry and April were also great! - Sat, 13 Dec 2003 8:07pm
Brand X Media User Info... | "I think he enjoyed keeping people waiting. I think it somewhat turned into a social status sort of thing" I'll have to disagree with that comment. The bar is stuck with a 85 person capacity, and I think that it's pretty rough on a business. Every show I've hosted there has been great, and the venue is friendly, and accessible to anyone who walks through the door. I've been trapped in the rain, and had to miss the Immaculate Machine show, and as the promoter of the Ramones show, had to see some of my friends turned away, or had to stand outside to hang out with them in line. I really doubt the business likes to turn away thirsty customers. Anyway, thanks to all of the bands who played, Morgan (for his endurance), Logan's Pub, everyone who came down for the show. It was a lot of fun, and I look forward to hosting another showcase there soon, once the capacity issue is sorted out. - Sat, 13 Dec 2003 9:24pm
BOHDAN User Info... | fuck i love when i work all fuckin day thinkin about how drunk i am gonna get and how much fun a show is going to be and i get there and can't even get fuckin in - Sun, 14 Dec 2003 3:31am
ML7Mike User Info... | Logans has had the 85 capacity since I went there a few months ago. Apparently some idiot threw a beer bottle from the smoking area out into the street and nailed a cop car which was parked outside giving someone a speeding ticket. - Sun, 14 Dec 2003 9:52am
Inktvis User Info... | Yes even though with the capacity, its different then what we saw in line and who was going through the backdoor. Anyways it was a good show, its a shame about the capacity thing. I guess there won't be as many shows for some bands there in the future, but think again - they'll always be able to play a sold out crowd :P - Sun, 14 Dec 2003 10:48am
el fuckface-o User Info... | "The U.S. military said Saddam put up no defense when found in a small, dark pit covered with polystyrene and a rug behind a farm building." when i read this in the news, it reminded me of logan's. i'm sure the acoustics and sight lines in saddams hole were better though. - Sun, 14 Dec 2003 12:45pm
Chris Logan User Info... | " i'm sure the acoustics and sight lines in saddams hole were better though" Yeah, but Saddam takes a fucker of a percentage from the door. And try to get a band beer out of him! - Sun, 14 Dec 2003 9:30pm
Brand X Media User Info... | Well, for those of you who got few glimpses of the show, I've uploaded some pics of the event at http://www.brandxmedia.ca/ramones_tribute.htm - Thu, 8 Jan 2004 11:38am
