_Griphin_ User Info... | Well here's my gig report... Got there early, ran into a bunch of people, started drinking the Rainier beer on special (and almost hurled after my first sip, they should call it Raindeer beer cause it's sorta like drinking cold sweat, but I digress :) First band to take the stage was Keg Killers (did anyone get a free CD?!?), always good to see Blind Mark playing, though his kick drum has seen better days, they rocked. Then Micky Christ took the stage, always a treat to see that band live, Gary dressed up in some gold disco uniform, with long mohawk and a black painted face (with a white mouth). And as usual, did not disappoint, the crowd could of been a bit more lively, but not a big deal. I know I tried, and wow I haven't sweated that much since I saw Gashly Crumb at Logan's pub many month's ago. Then the Excessives took the stage. I was thinking that this would be a disappointment, nothing could be farther from the truth. These guys went FULL OUT, and really stirred the crowd into a frenzy, which was a good thing. Somehow I lost my ear plugs at this point, but I'm not as deaf as I thought I would be. It was cool too cause there was some female in the crowd wearing a black dress (wish I had gotten the name) moshing and having fun. But I digress :) All in all, was a fun night, and if ya missed it, your loss here. Peace.... ;) - Sat, 15 Nov 2003 11:04am

_Griphin_ User Info... | The one wearing the Guinness ballcap and having too much fun (as usual). Was a truly cool night!!! (My enthusiasm always gets the better of me.) - Sun, 16 Nov 2003 2:01pm
ONION User Info... | I'm a little biased, but this was a great fucking show. Usually there's a "Blink 182" on every bill lately, but not this night. Loud and hard from start to finish. The Keg Killers were killer and I was totally surprised by how good The Excessives were. Great to see so many old faces there. - Sun, 16 Nov 2003 6:21pm

ricky long User Info... | Ahhh yes we do care!!! Here's my review also! Excessives nov 14 Lucky bar. Hicktoria B.C. I came in late to this show because i hauled a vanload of Vic West skaters up to Nanaimo indoor park for a contest. Basically our team of youngsters ripped up the half-pipe while the locals did thier contest of ollies and railslides. Vic West team rider Alex, pulled and landed a drop into the half-pipe coming up out the other side into a crowd of locals, in the air mellon grab, then down into the technical area. Alex finished his skate by hitting his smile on the concrete busting his front tooth. The rest of the team is really coming along and next year will prove to be even more radicle if this team keeps skateing the way they skate. Vic West skate team are sponsered by me and Coen Lavigne (Avrils sister)! We promote and drive these juvinile delinquents all over to skate. Thats what its about! Besides we want to skate too! Anyway i showed up to the show just in time to Mickey Christ play thier last two songs. I haven't seen this band since Harpos days so that was 10 years ago... This band is fronted by local victoria punk Garry Brainless, lets just say Garry is responsable for supporting so much local music and recordings that a book could be written. The man deserves respect and praise... so give it to him! Mickey Christ looked like they had fun and so did the audience. Good punk rock. I missed the first band The Keg Killers but from what a drunk bum on the street said they sounded like Platinum Blonde. I assumed my usual position by the speaker for the next band. The Excessives are a mix of Victoria boys with some heavy hitting Vancouver boys. They are a Vancouver punk band and they are a 100% Jak's Team band. Again it has been a few years since i saw them live so it was interesting to see how they grew. Yes they fuckin grew! This is one in your face force of punk rock. I was excited to see Doug Donut on drums, Doug is a geezer who has some time under his belt. Vancouver has a few legendary punk bands and if yous farmiliar with Death Sentence ( wich you should be!) then yous heard Doug beatin the skins. He's as good as they get and his beats to the Excessives setlist work like a cock and balls on a weddin night! Or let's just say hee's good. Front man Trevor Shad has a good gruff voice that reminds me of our good ole Murray Acton mated with John Brannon of Negative Approach! His voice belts out as he convulses to the sounds of his band and hunkers over the audience challenging you to dance harder. This night his face got hit with a gob from a loving guy in the audience. What the hell!!! That was so early eighties. It was a good shot though. Jono was strummin the strings at a great pace that didn't loose my concentration and kept my toe tappin and fist a shakin. Pluckin bass in the background was a Jamie Jak who sighned my partition after the show. Thanks Jamie I still owes you a few drinks. The Excessives ended thier show with a group sing along with a few local kids on stage. The show was over but one of the local skids sat behind the drums and started drummin. The audience wanted more. The band came back on stage and we was treated to another hit, "I like drugs." Yes, the Excessive have grown into a solid punk band who should not be missed. -ricky long (vic west pool carver) - Sun, 16 Nov 2003 7:55pm

Broccoli User Info... | yah, the excessives seemed really good to me at the time, but I was wasted and tend not to trust my judgemnet in those situations. HA, I stole the singers Beer too 'cause the staff cut me off. And Lee Ving is still a wimp - Wed, 19 Nov 2003 9:40am
_Griphin_ User Info... | You got cut off?!? I almost did, after I made a comment that I felt the beer that came in those plastic cups wasn't as much as you would find in a glass sleeve (besides, the customers next to me got sleeves, and I dropped $40 that night), and the bartender wasn't impressed, it was just a stupid observation. Odd I never got cut off, I should of :) Apparently I made a few comments at inopportune (sp?) times, from what I was told 3 days later. I've gotta quit hanging around with the bands :) - Wed, 19 Nov 2003 7:44pm
Ty Stranglehold User Info... | I wish I got cut off! It was nice to see Dust pound the skins for them for the grand finale too. - Wed, 19 Nov 2003 7:53pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Yeah no doubt, I think I kinda instigated that. :) Speaking of which, Blind Mark needs a new kick drum skin, anyone willing to start a donation fund to get him new equipment?!? :) - Wed, 19 Nov 2003 9:13pm
