Oh man, was this a gong show. No less than entertaining to the end...if the ENCHANTED FAERIES' goal was to disappoint NIGHTWISH fans expecting a happy-go-prancy power metal outfit, then their goal was fulfilled. They tore it up with some good ol' grind-death, really dark melodies and pretty raw vocals too (Nice Imp Head.) PERUKE was better than I expected too, I've seen that singer around at tons of shows and I had no idea that he could belt it out too!! Good drumming mixed in with some more decent discordant grind riffs. DESENSITIZED, well, how many times do I have to say it?! Catchy, old-school straight-up thrash, you can't go wrong!! As for our set we were overall happy with it, we felt we'd done better shows considering that our guitarist was having a hard time soloing 'cause there was apparently no sustain even though he was hitting the notes...ah well. People seemed to like us anyways though, so I guess we can't complain. Afterwards I stuck around to see S.I.C.K. jam out some high-school classics of my day (Sepultura, Slayer, Carcass, etc.) with some original material as well, really groovy riffs, Flee's got a weird screechy-coarseness to his vocals too, good shit.
Overall this place was packed with metalheads, and there is no other paradise. Hails to all who played and all who showed!!!! - Sat, 1 Nov 2003 6:50pm

Had a great time, got really wasted.. Peruke did kick ass, too bad about the technical problems plaguing them. Hey Alkyore, you sure you saw their singer at tons of shows? - Sun, 2 Nov 2003 11:34am

Yes, I managed to catch 3 of the bands at least, then I found out it was 2:30 in the morning, and apparently I was gonna get beat up, so I left (I also had to work the next morning). Fun times, good turnout.... - Sun, 2 Nov 2003 1:00pm

Re: Helloween photos... Wow, now I remember half the night! :) Nice to see ya got a photo of Flee. But you need to add descriptions with the photos, cause I met a ton of people but I don't remember any names (such as the dude in picture #40). And sigh, no pictures of me (probably for the better :) - Sun, 2 Nov 2003 4:58pm

Well the only band I went to see there was Peruke. All the other bands played crappy Victoria style metal like i thought they would. You know the kind small town shit core.I know i should support the local metal but it all fucking sucks except for three bands. Peruke, AllFather, and Repulverizer but thats just me I don't mean to piss on anyones parade. And I guess any metal is good metal but fuck man theres only so much I can take. - Mon, 3 Nov 2003 4:27pm

Holy shit. I've been sick as a dog since last week and of course it kicked up big time over the weekend, hence me missing out on Halloween festivities. DAMMIT! Still sick too.
The pics tell me the weekend was a blast and I would have liked to have been there (wanted to finally see Peruke, next time...sorry Mr. Brogan). - Tue, 4 Nov 2003 5:41am

if crowd response says anything, then yeah it was a killer show. rotten, you are showing your limitations.not every band in town is just trying to make the most noise.i like those bands, but im not stuck in a tunnel vision of what metal is.maybe if people were a little more openminded to grooves melodies and oh wait they are,its just you.nevermind there has to be people like you everywhere.thats fine, but maybe you can just fuck right off with all the other people who cant do anything but talk shit, and wish you had some talent of your own.when you look at the people in the crowd, and they are going fucking crazy, and screaming for more, dicks like you only look stupid. - Tue, 4 Nov 2003 6:39am

Ah, what can you do though...I remember when I was in high school I had the "if it's not heavy, it sucks" mentality. All I listened to was Deicide, Obituary, Napalm Death, Carcass, Malevolent Creation, Morbid Angel, Godflesh and all the Roadrunner/Earache death metal that was prominent back in the early 90's. I still like some of that stuff mind you, there just comes a point when "just being heavy" becomes boring.
Fuck, I can't even play guitar, and I could probably go to the pawnshop and buy a shit guitar and play redundant tuned-down riffs and boast about how "fuckin' brutal I am," what a fuckin' waste of time that'd be. I'm not saying all heavy bands are like that, I like Origin and Nile and Cryptopsy and such, but fuck, I'm not gonna quit SOS for a grind band to impress anybody. - Tue, 4 Nov 2003 10:01am

Hey, I was like that when I was 15-about 24.. now Im older I get into multiple forms of metal and appreciate musicianship and songwriting ability more than sheer extremity.. but for many years if it wasnt death/black/grind or heavier I didnt want it near me. As a guitarist I pretty much ONLY played Death metal for about 8 years, then when we started ML7 we figured we'd just play whatever we want and not limit ourselves to one style only.

BTW, Alkyore, you still didnt get what I was getting at?? The singer of Peruke is Tony, guitarist in ML7. - Tue, 4 Nov 2003 10:52am

Man, fucking goodtimes. I went for Peruke and wasn't let down. Tony, vocals were crushing, I had no idea! It was all about that totally drunk chick to the far right of the stage, I think she had the hots for Tony. After Peruke we went to the Burnside house, missed all the action, though Nick(Iskra) was one hell of a skanky bitch!
Costums for this year.... Owen as 'Pedophile-Man' won for sickest. That bloody baby down his pants was the deciding factor. Hotest chick goes to Spencer, and nastiest Chick goes to Nick, fucking disgusting. Hopefully next year I won't have to work early the morning after, I am NOT dding either, someone elses turn!! - Sat, 8 Nov 2003 2:05pm
