tex | Another amazing show by nomeansno. As for sugar... I really miss the Ice House. - Sat, 23 Nov 2002 2:29pm
Bruised, battered'n hung over | Yeah, I couldn't have asked for any more from the guys. What was that, like three encores? Every song I had in mind before the show they played. Amazing. Luckly I didn't have to deal with the bar price for drinks: there was a liquor store right down the street. Extra Old Stock all the way, babey - Sat, 23 Nov 2002 3:44pm
Colin(BNM) User Info... | man I remember seeing these guys with Mission of Christ and (me thinks Fratricide) at the OAP Hall way back in and around 87-88. These guys still put on a good show. - Sat, 23 Nov 2002 10:33pm
Anonymous | what the fucks with them playing at sugar? - Sun, 24 Nov 2002 3:34am
Matt D. | I don't know why Sugar was chosen... but they seem to be trying to attract live music more than before. New management or just a change? Can't say its too bad a venue all in all. The pit area seemed small-ish, but it might just look that way cause it was packed fuller than a can o' sardines. From the pit at least, I had a harder time hearing Rob sing for the most part, his voice was kinda drowned out. I think my ears are still ringing. Hopefully they'll be back in less than a year, but who knows. - Sun, 24 Nov 2002 4:57am
DTP | Sugar was picked for the venue because of the size. Everytime Nomeansno played the icehouse it was to a 400+ crowd. Lucky is too small, Soundgarden may have worked but with the crowds nomeansno draws the promoters wanted to make sure everyone got in. Enter Sugar, can get over 500 (if need be) in bar and do have decent site lines and sound. The owners and management are the same as day 1 and want to do more live of all types because they see a lack of venues in the city. All in all it was a great show. Hats off to the promoters and Sugar both. As for drink prices it is not so bad to pay a bit more to have for a drink if that means clean big room and bathrooms that have no puke or piss all over them, (well at least when the night starts) - Sun, 24 Nov 2002 2:18pm
feeling jewed | the ads all said $8 admission and i get to the door and am asked for $10. for one thing it wouldn't have been a big deal if i knew it would be $10 before hand (it was like a bait and switch). and second i don't feel the bands were worth $10. $8 or even $6 would have been more like it. its sad that promoters (or maybe it was the dayglos?) have to pull tricks like this. anyhow, now i know that cumsoc are not very good and that the Dayglos are still exactly the same as they have been for decades. - Sun, 24 Nov 2002 2:27pm
feeling jewed | damn wrong thread. this board is maddening. - Sun, 24 Nov 2002 2:32pm
Matt D | Sugar definitely is a good bar for acts that draw bigger crowds. Bar prices will always be the same, if they're cheaper it probably means they're watered down, so you end up getting the same basic amount of alky-hawl anyways. Atomique Productions deserves a big pat on the back. Good job. - Sun, 24 Nov 2002 5:24pm
matt t User Info... | yeah that whole upping the amount it says on the poster is pretty stupid myself - Sun, 24 Nov 2002 8:28pm
