To start off I would say that Steamer's sucks when it's that busy. Waayyy to long to wait for a drink and waay to long to wait to go out for a smoke. But onto the show....

First up was Faces of Black. I had never heard them before but they rocked. They are a three piece with a girl singer who can wail. They have a great heavy rock sound defeintely worth checking out.

Next up was Abuse of Power who weren't really my thing. They had a good stage presence but an Iron Maiden wtih a side of cheez sound to them. Their style didn't really flow with the other bands on the bill.

Last up was Bronze. As always the boys put on a great show.
Bronze has a great stoner rock sound, something along the veins of kyuss and fu man chu but it's also mixed up with a gritty kind of black sabbath sound. They have added a new guitar player which really amplifies the heavier aspect of their music. The only complaints I have (other than the than stupidly busy bar) was that it was hard to hear the vocals and drums sometimes; and the set seemed short.

But all in all a pretty good show - Mon, 20 Oct 2003 11:38am

Yes it was busy. Maximum capacity actually, they were turning people away when I showed up at 10:30. We had fun creating a mosh pit (first one I've seen there). Lots of support from the locals.
Only problem was some bad math on the door split leaving a bad taste in our mouths. Your welcome Steamer's, never again. - Mon, 20 Oct 2003 1:56pm

Faces of Black were utterly amazing! Great sound, and bass playing women make me very happy. I am so glad we got to catch this band! Play more shows. Soon!!!

Um, Abuse of Power isn't really my bag, but that arm band was really interesting to look at. I thought up more than a few uses for such a contraption. Maybe guy could rent it out...?

Bronze has got a delicious sound--more along the lines of (Los)Natas than Kyuss, in my opinion, but I split hairs--and handing out the piles of stickers was a nice touch! What a kind bunch!

Great show, all around! Except for getting locked inside. Steamers might want to re-evaluate their In/Out policy, so as to not make people feel as though they are helplessly trapped in stinky bar-air. - Tue, 21 Oct 2003 9:23am

Wicked to see you Christine, sorry that it was only in the washroom and not while your were up on the stage givin'er.
Had I known it was you I certainly would've been there earlier.
My wonder friend/ bass player above says that you rocked, I believe her completely.
Look forward to your next show.

I can't wait either! Whatta blast. Bronze blew the crowd away and Abuse of Power were fierce and rocked it up! I think the show went off without a hitch... well, minus a few unfortunate events like wallets being lost by staff and the jail-like setting, and the angry angry yelling rocker dudes, but all and all it worked out in the end and nobody lost an eye in the process. Thanks for coming out and supporting this show. - Wed, 22 Oct 2003 11:17am

Faces of Black-Hot female lead singer with huge breasts, plus she sings brilliantly, how can you lose.

Abuse of Power-Doing the whole Iron Maiden revival thing splendidly, they were really tight, I was impressed.

Bronze-Great guys, great band, nothing more to say. - Wed, 22 Oct 2003 8:27pm

Bronze got a second guitarist?!?

Wait a second, they were better before, I don't see the logic with that. Though to tell you the truth, I haven't heard the new lineup. Still, I was shocked how well they played at the Upstairs Lounge, they totally made me interested in their sound :)

What I'm saying is, the more simpler the better, and they ROCK!!! - Thu, 23 Oct 2003 2:29am
