Japanese Air Force User Info... | Holy shit. Best live show I've seen, possibly ever. Un-fucking-believable. If you ever get the opportunity, you owe it to yourself to see this. Opener was Serena Ryder, and the girl has some serious pipes on her. She was also fantastic. If you are a Hawksley fan and didn't make it to this show... I'm very very very sorry. ~JAF - Sat, 18 Oct 2003 12:50am

Leeroy User Info... | hmmmm. I thought the show was great but I think i was alittle dissapointed he didnt play more old stuff. his sound was weird too it seemed like the guitars were totally buried in the mix. all things considered he is an amazing showman and has a beautiful voice. oh yeah JAF I gotta talk to you about rehearsal space switch for next week. call me 479-4134 or email me your number - Sat, 18 Oct 2003 9:31am

Lurker User Info... | I didn't enjoy Hawksley Workman so much - a little too much of a rockstar - but I'm not a fan to begin with. Serena Ryder was amazing. - Sat, 18 Oct 2003 4:40pm
[+} User Info... | Hawksley, i'm glad, is keeping rockstardom alive and well. I think we need more of that in this day and age. - Sun, 19 Oct 2003 11:55am
Zippgunn User Info... | You're kidding, right? - Sun, 19 Oct 2003 1:36pm

[+} User Info... | i'm really not. i think we totally need more straight up fucking rock stars. people who aren't afraid to say that they are perfect in every way... everyone is so worried about personal image. - Mon, 20 Oct 2003 8:47pm
Fred the Dragon User Info... | Oh [+}, you are so young. - Mon, 20 Oct 2003 8:55pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | yip. - Tue, 21 Oct 2003 2:15am
norm User Info... | Yeah... we need more rock stars. Because we don't have enough. We need more emphasis on glamor and image. Too more emphasis on music. Ha. - Tue, 21 Oct 2003 4:12pm
[+} User Info... | i think "indie" has hit a new low this day ladies and gentlemen. are you all worried that your favourite moody melodramatic underground bands might actually get an image together? i find it so refreshing when someone comes along and brings the glamour back into rock and roll. sure, they'll never be another bowie, but at least individuals can stand up for their self image and own egotistical pleasure. - Wed, 22 Oct 2003 8:23pm
[+} User Info... | oh yes. and image isn't everything. - Tue, 28 Oct 2003 7:46pm
Gman User Info... | Norm: You may not like the style Hawksley plays in, but it cannot be denied that he has enormous musical talent. If you try to deny that, you cannot possibly know anything about Mr Workman. Thank you. Gman - Wed, 29 Oct 2003 1:06pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | "enormous musical talent" is the most flexible, widely used, useless term out there. hell man, sammy hagar has it, does anyone give a rat shit? nope. same with steve vai. nobody cares. unless it sounds good to more than a few people, "talent" means nothing if you'd like to be a pro musician. so he knows how to play, big deal. - Wed, 29 Oct 2003 1:34pm
[+} User Info... | it's the fact that he has perfected his craft. steve vai, the man is fucking genius of metal guitar phrasing... but understanding the subtle harmonies of the chords and writing interesting fresh material (and having wonderful vocals!) is almost unheard of. The man is a genius and an enormous musical talent. - Wed, 29 Oct 2003 5:20pm
Gman User Info... | Hey Ross B Ay: Hawksley plays all the instruments on his albums. He also produces them. He also writes lovely poetry. He also made up his entire past history which the media totally bought into. ... and, in my opinion, he is very successful in these endeavours. So yes, I say he is enormously talented. Gman - Wed, 29 Oct 2003 5:36pm
Japanese Air Force User Info... | Agreed. Not only does he play everything... he plays it all well. Not only does he record his own albums (and albums of others)... he records them very well. Same with production. And, he puts on an amazing live show to boot, which is what this thread was originally addressing. :) ~JAF - Thu, 30 Oct 2003 1:19am
ROSS B AY User Info... | yeah we've established he's a good musician. but songwriting is infinitely more important than playing ability, and for this "guy" it just aint' there. it's almost impossible for me to sit through and entire song of his, and that's saying something because i really dig Kansas, Boston, AND Sven Gali! - Thu, 30 Oct 2003 2:07am
Japanese Air Force User Info... | Well. Just 'cause you don't like him, doesn't make him a bad songwriter. It's completely subjective and based on personal taste. I'm sure I don't dig stuff that you listen to, however, I wouldn't go as far as to say it's "bad" or "they're not good songwriters". I would just say, it's not my thing. However, I realize this is Live Victoria and an attempt to help people appear less confrontational about things such as music is a lost cause. I await the inevitable flaming that is sure to come. :) ~JAF - Thu, 30 Oct 2003 12:12pm
[+} User Info... | well put. - Thu, 30 Oct 2003 3:32pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | shit if that's your idea of good music, then good luck with that. pity on ya. - Fri, 31 Oct 2003 7:50pm
