jackass User Info... | crazy show, my first time seeing them Dean and Gene in fine form, not as fucked up as they usually are, I'm told. Played a ton of favorites. They went for 3 hours solid, 2 encores. I think I'm still high. Soooo many wrecked people, it was awesome. - Mon, 6 Oct 2003 4:34pm
pooetry User Info... | I dunno where the hell you were, but I went to Ween at the Orpheum, too. My friend and I thought that we were like these somewhat die-hard Ween fans, but at the show, it was like seeing a band we'd never heard of before. They have 8 albums and I own merely five of them, so I guess I'm outta the loop. They played some old stuff, but not near enough, and they weren't exactly interactive with the crowd. I didn't realise the seating would be like that either, which sucked hairy ass to see a band like that. I doubt I'll go to the Orpheum again to see anything but a ballet - which sure as shit ain't any time soon. In retrospect, I wish I didn't spend $40 to see them plus ferry fare, but tough shit, eh? I had a good weekend in Vancouver other wise. Bitch, bitch, bitch and fuckin bitch. MEH! - Mon, 6 Oct 2003 5:31pm
jackass User Info... | yeah, the whole crowd control in general at the Orpheum honked. We were in line out front @ 5:30 (doors opened @ 8) and got bumped way down the line by late comers who just started standing near the front. Irritating. Then, once inside, you couldn't go out into the lobby without getting a wrist band, and if you went out into the lobby before they started giving wrist bands out, they wouldn't let you back in. Fucked up. They played a good mix of tunes from most of their albums, (I don't have their newest, so those tunes weren't as good for me) but you are right, they weren't as interactive as they usually are (from what I've been told). The people I was with have seen them a number of times, and this show was up there on their list of favorites. They did play 2 encores though..that impressed me, because I didn't think they were even going to play one, let alone 2. - Tue, 7 Oct 2003 8:53am
sea legs User Info... | i also thought that the show had its highs and lows. more hiiiiiighs for sure. seating always sucks. think of all the people going to see qotsa tonight at the orpheum, that would be shitty. wrist bands also suck nothin else to say bout that. it was my first time seeing ween and i was not dissapointed. the mix of tunes was amazing. two hours before the fisrt encore is also amzing. what can i say im amazed. highlights for myself were bannanas and blow, stroker ace and the grobe (i know these are all from the same albumn). i always love a band that pays attention to their entire catalogue. the other cool part was when they asked me to come on stage and play some guitar....what you missed that? hard to believe as they asked me like 50 times. yeah right i wish. anyway, though certain aspects of the show were irritating i'll definitly be at the next show. however many years that will take. - Tue, 7 Oct 2003 4:27pm
jackass User Info... | ahh...stuck in my cabana, livin' on bananas and blow. That song was awesome. I heard they played Push tha little daisies in Edmonton. Boooo! I was hoping against hope they'd play that one for us..that was my first WEEN song ever. Blew my mind high as a kite on hash for the first time too. I didn't think they'd play Spinal Meningitis (got me down) either...not the best song off that album, but meh, what you gonna do? Some of the best parts of the night were when they'd play a slower song so everybody in front of me would sit down so I could sit too. Standing for 6 hours straight just isn't that much fun. - Wed, 8 Oct 2003 9:37am
