Well, that show was mighty crushing! That whole weird line-up incident caused me to only catch the last 2 songs of
Desensitized's set which truly sucked since I enjoyed their show last weekend with Meatlocker 7. What little I heard was sounding great though. Self Inflicted was surprisingly enjoyable considering I'm not too into any hardcore style stuff at all. Tight performance from them. They seem to be quite good at what they do. Unfortunately, I don't have much to say about Sonic Doom... getting shoved out of the way by them as they loaded their gear out wasn't too classy either... Now, Pariah fucking killed. That was possibly the most impressive performance I've seen from a local band. Their potential was pretty obvious judging from the Anonymus and Kataklysm shows but tonight's show really proved that these guys have something special happening. Excellent sound, the band was on fire and that At The Gates cover was next to flawless! Great crowd tonight too! Too bad most of the people at the show tonight seem to have missed out on Infernal Majesty a couple weeks ago as that show was dead... Anyways, thanks to all the bands for providing some great METAL! - Sun, 5 Oct 2003 3:21am

What a great show. Good turnout all round. Desensitized kicked me in the eardrums right from the get go. Sonic Doom played a solid set. Pariah on the other hand. What can you say when the crowd is begging for encores. Rockstars! - Sun, 5 Oct 2003 10:23am

Awesome show last night. !!!! Great turn out. Awesome people!
All 3 bands were awesome. Desensitize, totally blew me away. I loved every riff. I loved the electronic kit, very cool!
Self-Inflicted raised the bar with their crowd interaction. Ross Bay played the shit out of his axe, along side his pierced nose 2nd axe man. Drummer kicked!!!Was tat a left handed bass player i saw , or was it Pariah. Fucking cool Loved all your tunes! Very very impressed. SHit load of talent in this town.
Pariah! Pariah! Pariah! The crowd fucking loved you! The tunes were awesome. Caught myself sitting around waiting for your encore, i believe it was 130 am and they shut us down. I thought bars were good to go until 2 am. !! Whaddup. Wanted more.

I had a small group of my close friends come out last night, and they were blown away by the metal support in this town. I dont think i know of any other bar that will sell out and have a line up by 10. Very very cool!

As for the dude that got pushed aside by us loading out our gear, i dont know what to say. My apologies! But we didnt even start grabbing our gear until all bands were finished, the lights were on, no drinks were being served. Everytime i came back to grab a piece of gear the door was locked. The bar was closed dude! There are 4 bands playing....alll exiting out of one small door, stuff like that is bound to happen. - Sun, 5 Oct 2003 11:55am

Yeah wicked show dammit!

Big thanks to Zak (ROSS BAY) from Self Inflicted not only for putting the show together, but for booking it with enough time to get the word out properly. It showed last night. Pretty fucking wicked turnout!

Also big thanks to Logan's for letting everyone in. Word I had was they had a limit set at 85 people becuase they were shut down a week ago. Apparently it was full by 10pm with a lineup around the corner :) So they let everyone else in finally...

That was a damn fun lineup that I hope to see repeat itself in the future. - Sun, 5 Oct 2003 2:24pm

Shit yeah...this show ruled! I had a wicked time all around; of course I showed up at 9 to make sure I'd catch DESENSITIZED and fuck are they great, I can't get enough of 'em!! Hopefully they'll have more material for when we play with them on Halloween!!! SONIC DOOM busted out the good ol' thrash too, (I was surprised when I found out that it was the drummer doing some of those vocals, impressive) SELF-INFLICTED was way better than I expected too...like Leper said I'm not really into hardcore at all but they surprised me, I almost wrote them off but after the first couple songs they actually started to grip me... and an SOD cover to boot...well done!!!
PARIAH, what can be said?!? You guys had the crowd going ape-shit, I still think you have the swedish-thrash thing going on (as compared to DEATH's opinion) but that's what I love, don't get me wrong. A real shame you have to take a hiatus for a while but it makes sense since our band was together for a year before we started doing any shows ourselves...it's an insurance plan boys, you'll come across even crazier for the future!!!!
Cheers to all who supported TRUE METAL this month!!! And come out to Logan's on Mondays too you lazy asses...(oh, yeah, another press statement, the drinks are $2.50.) - Sun, 5 Oct 2003 2:51pm

........well, im spent, lastnight was a killer turnout thank you to everyone who came out to see the show , everyone involved in playing the show, ross bay for putting it together, and to logans for hosting.

i finally got to see DESENSITIZED..... holy shit guys! i knew from what id heard outside the jam spot that you tore up some seriously killer metal but seing you live was another story fucking intense is all i can say. keep doin what your doin' you guys rule.

SONIC DOOM ,got a chance to meet them, definatly cool guys ,tight clutches awsome drumwork and a good clean sound all together.

SELF INFLICTED holy fuck you guys were LOUD!! as always you guys played a killer set, im liking the new material,it goes for the throat even harder than your earlier stuff , good to see you guys pushing even more intensity into your set ,gotta love zakks antics....... fuck you were wasted buddy . the more i listen to SI the more im liking Hardcore,as always playing a show with you guys rocks.

as for PARIAH we had a lot of people asking us why we were going on hiatus, i can offer you this .......
Pariah is going to be focusing on writing some new material for a couple reasons 1.we want to have a longer set to offer.. right now we have about 35 minuites 6 songs.2. we are focusing on putting a demo together.thanks again to everyone for making lastnight a thrashfest to remember.......we will see you all soon.

thanks to bonnie and tina for taking pics we'll be in touch

What a killer show that was. Despite the notoriously lousy sound Logans is known for, the show still kicked a heap of ass. There was ass all over the floor from being kicked around so much. Pariah slayed and lived up to what a headlining band should be. If Desensitized keeps doing shows like the first two, then they are going to be huge. Pariah, keep doing what you are doing, if you take time off to write then whatever you come back with is going to better and evil-er. It's nice to see the birth of the next huge Slayer-esque band in my backyard. - Mon, 6 Oct 2003 5:11pm

Well wholy fuck!
That show slaughtered a few kinds of ass!!!

To start the bar was at capacity *150* by 9:15 and there was a line up around the corner for quite some time to boot!!!
Definately sorry for those who came down and couldn't make it inside, I don't think anyone expected the turnout there was!
The crowd was awesome! Thanks to everyone who came out and showd your support for Victoria's metal scene!!!

Bands:

DESENSITIZED:

Well what can I say that I havn't said before, you guys have molded your sound awesomely over the last year, the 3 way vocals are fucking killer!! Origional brutal metal that still has an oldschool feel, fucking great job!!

SONIC DOOM:

You guys seemed pretty hyped thats for sure, great energy from you guys and that new song you guys played at the end fucking kicked!!! Mabye next time you can get advertized as Sonic Doom rather than Sonic BOOM ;)

SELF INFLICTED:

Fuckin A as always fellas!
I liked the fact that you guys got hammed before your set, it allways makes the show better for me knowing the bands hosed, providing they dont fuck up that is!
Good luck in Vancouver!!!!

PARIAH:

Well the whole night I had been downing coffees and then 1/2 way through SONIC DOOM's set I decided aww fuck it I'm switching to dark beer ahah, so by the time were on I have some heartburn action abrewin in the ol' gut but nothing that I couldn't keep down, so off we go, and about 4 songs in who do I see pop infront of me with a shooter and a lime, THE EVIL WRECKER!!!!
So I gladly accept his drink though I did not realize his sinister plan, he must have been keeping tabs on my consumption and thought he would add something to me that would make me pull a devy on stage!*he puked the syl show he did the same night*Tequillia!!!
So after a little hairwhipping sure enough, I almost chunder a few times but my metal powers held in and aha I did not puke much to the wreckers discontent im sure!!!
*Seriously though, thanks for the shot man \m/*
And again the crowd, oh my, I can't believe how retarded you guys went for us, it was truely fucking awesome!!!
I remember glancing into the pit just to see a wall of fallen over people, total metal guys, you kick fucking ass, and I'm definately glad you liked what you heard \m/

All and all that night kicked major ass!!
Thanks to Logan's for not cutting us short but letting us finish the whole set plus the blinded encore thing, that was pretty fuckin cool of ya!!

I had quite a crazy night, being my 3rd. show as well as my first headline and i'm pretty sure PARIAH's as well, I won't ever be forgetting tonite!!! Truely fucking killer!

But alas it was also my last show with PARIAH, I got the boot shortly after the show *Whaaaaaaa*
Hope you people like what you heard though, as arny said: I'LL BE BACK!!!

GL: To PARIAH in the future \m/

I'm too much of a Epic/DeathMetal fiend, the dudes thought I wasn't blending in well, nor doing what I or they wanted me to be doing.

I have to say, some of the old pariah songs aren't my style though the new ones were for sure, I was going for a new thing, mixing alot of DM into pariah's melodic stuff, I was getting into it, I like the sound of it but honestly yeah I'd rather be singing for a band more dying fetus like or more amon amarthy, there is a definate clash with sound for pariah's old stuff, really hard to make my style fit without being a generic cheese bag, but to me I think I did well with it, their new ones *Septic Carnage and Beyond The Halls - 3rd and second last in the set* I had no problem throwing my style onto, thats the type of sound I was looking to do, more suitable to epic vocals as well as the pseudo-corpsegrinder stuff, I had a feeling perhaps thats where pariah might have been going but obviously not ahhaha

I know the band isin't too keen on the heavy death metal vocals which is a definate clash right there, but judging from the crowds etc. everyone thought the blend was new and unique and killer all of that crap but at the end of the day it's not what pariah wants to sound like, and if you are with me you're getting gutterals highs and mids, thats just how I sing!!!

So yeah, there you have it, but in the end I guess we all got what we wanted out of the deal, Pariah had a singer for their booked shows and I have a demo of my vocals now and people have seen half assed what I can do.
Plus it booted my resume' up there, went from no real expirence other than my own projects to doing my first show 2 weeks after jamming with these dudes and then opening up for Kataklysm my second time on stage just a frwakin month later, and then ripping it up at this killer show a few days ago, so I have to say all and all I'm a happy guy for the time being, no hard feelings to Pariah either, I think the band to them is the stuff theyve all wanted to be playing for years and in their heads they diddnt have a growling bastard like me singing ahhaha
I was just looking to get a band going and see where it went from there, wasn't on a quest for my dream band yet, but then again all these old fuckers have years on me so hahaha ;)
But I will say this:
Next band I get with, If I can't let loose and kick my tub of hate right the fuck over I won't be jamming at all.
Well unless it's Epic Death metal of course ;) - Wed, 8 Oct 2003 10:44am

Way to go Death! Awesome way to look positive. Thats what a band needs, positive enforcement from negative situations. I know one thing,,,,,,,,,,, I have been playing in bands since i was 10 years old, had my first write up in the paper when I was 13, with an album that actually sold shit loads (100, big to a grade 8'er) of copies and I really thought i was going to be a rock star. Must have played 100's of shows! I HAVE NEVER OPENED FOR A COOL BAND LIKE KATAKLYSM (sp)So the fact you can say you opened up for those guys on your 2nd gig, is very cool! AND, the fact you were able to take advantage of PARIAH's talent and see exactly how a working band works, then notch it all up to excellent experience! Good Luck. You will be in a band soon. Fuck, what else can you do! You have already had a taste of METAL!!!! - Wed, 8 Oct 2003 2:22pm

Heh, oh I've been tasting metal for meny years my friend, what I am addicted to is just fucking exploding now ahah, that and when you have a sea of people actually cheering for you as in, not just watching but going ape shit, well the adrenaline rush of that is comparable to bungee jumping as soon as the slack from the cord kicks in and you know your safe, then its no longer a big thing it just becomes fucking fun!!!

And yes I'll find a band soon!!!

This city has a few bands waiting to surface, and bands need singers!
\m/

PS: Toss me a link to that new song you guys played the other night, I obviously diddnt get a good listen, but do remember noticing something new and wanting to check it out! - Wed, 8 Oct 2003 2:35pm
